The Ultramarine “Fan Protest” at Warhammer World has ended. It appears that the Ultramarines fans have …won?
Well this whole “Fan Protest” has been quite the journey so far. On day three we had an update:
“We see you. We hear you.” Indeed. I’m pretty sure everyone noticed that Adam, the “GW Representative” was wearing a Word Bearer’s T-Shirt. Was that a hint or a tease at what’s to come? Eh, who knows at this point. Especially after the “GW capitulation” video response:
Not only did Adam change his shirt to an Ultramarine one, but he announced that “effective immediately ever release will be an Ultramarines release.” Now, the video basically cuts off as he starts to take questions but I DO have a question here. That question is “for how long?” I want to know how long will all the releases be Ultramarine releases. Are we talking until the end of 2025? Through January? Are we talking beyond that?
Realistically, I know this is just a meta-joke. And we likely DO have more Ultramarines on the way. But let’s be real this is just vague enough to be “true” but also so wide open it won’t carry water.
Also, because we’re talking about Ultramarines here, pretty much any Space Marine release is already an Ultramarine release if you paint it blue. I’m also starting to wonder if this is going to be a tease for The Horus Heresy as well. Calth, after all, has played a major part in that setting, too. Plus with the whole Word Bearer tease, this feels like it’s hinting at something more.
Oh well. If anything, I feel way worse for Age of Sigmar fans. I guess this means no new Warhammer: Age of Sigmar releases anytime soon. Or The Old World. Or [Insert GW Game Here].
Really though I think people want to see non-Ultramarines because that’s what makes the setting interesting. If the Ultramarines (aka the Posterboys) don’t have anyone else to battle, what’s the point? Ultramarines vs Ultramarines sounds really boring to play all the time.
That bottom text scroll is hilarious though…
