Skirmisher Acquires ‘Quactica’ Miniatures

Skirmisher Publishing LLC has acquired the entire “Quactica” line of white metal figures from miniature manufacturer Lance & Laser (Columbus, Ohio). This deal was the result of a series of meetings between Skirmisher’s Michael J. Varhola and Lance & Laser’s Erik Morrice in August during Gen Con 2008 in Indianapolis to discuss transfer of the line from one company to the other.

Skirmisher will be supporting the “Quactica” miniatures in several ways, and is currently developing both a self-standing role-playing game set in the associated world of Middle Aesopia and several sets of OGL stats.

More information about the rules and miniatures is available from a dedicated section of the Skirmisher Game Store. And for a limited time, anyone who buys two or more sets of the metal figures will automatically receive a free PDF version of the Quactica miniatures rules, and anyone who orders five or more sets will receive a free copy of both the PDF and the hardcopy book version of the rules!

The Undead Army Deck and the Barbarian Horde Army Deck are in layout and design and will be available for March Release and right after that we will have available Dwarf Reinforcement Pack #1, Orc Reinforcement Pack #1, Barbarian Horde Reinforcement Pack #1, and Undead Reinforcement Pack #1

At the end of January we will offer a special preorder deal on the Barbarian Horde and Undead Army decks. If you preorder you will receive a limited edition specialty unit card only available to those that place a preorder. You will receive one for each army deck that you preorder so if you preorder the Undead you will receive the Undead specialty Unit and if you purchase the Barbarian Horde you will receive the Barbarian Horde specialty unit. Monsterpocalypse™ Collectible Miniatures game sells out in Japan

Privateer Press has announced that their Monsterpocalypse collectible miniatures game has sold out in Japan prior to launch.

“This is a very important indicator of the game’s potential in Japan,” stated Matt Wilson, designer of Monsterpocalypse and Creative Director of Privateer Press. “This paves the way to a bright future for Monsterpocalypse in a market and a culture that has celebrated over 50 years’ worth of the Giant Monster (Kaiju) genre.”

A product shortage is not anticipated at this point, especially as distribution in Japan expands, so players in Japan will be able to take full advantage of the Mega Ares Mother ship redemption program, and the Mega Sky Sentinel comic book promotion.

Monsterpocalypse launched this past Friday, October 10th, 2008 and has also recently sold out of starter sets at the manufacturer level in the US. Information about future releases for the Monsterpocalypse product line will be on display at Toy Fair in New York City in February 2009.
