Games Workshop is giving us a closer and more personal look at the Khorne Berzerkers. Right where they want to be…

By now, we know the World Eaters are coming with a brand new codex and the Khorne Berzerkers are getting a new look. While Angron is taking the center stage with a new centerpiece model, the new Berzerkers are getting a major glow-up as well. Personally, I’m pumped about the new look and can’t wait to build and paint these models. Today, GW is throwing us a bone by showcasing some of their fancy new bits.

“Khorne Berzerkers are the mainstay of the XII Legion, warp-fuelled slaughterers who relish literally nothing more than tearing their foes to pieces in the blood-soaked ecstasy of battle. They’ve got a shiny new kit coming that builds 10 frothing maniacs at full charge – let’s take a closer look.”

Khorne Berzerker Heads And Shoulders

To kick things off, one change I’m really excited about is the amount of new heads we’ll be getting in the box. The new kit contains 12 bare heads and 10 with the “iconic cadaere renissum” crests (aka Bunny Ears).

To be perfectly honest, I’ve never really been a fan of the cadaere renissum crests — only because I don’t think they are practical for battle. Horns on your helmet might be intimidating but make for really good handles for your enemy to grab and yank on in battle. Your neck would then have to support your head as they tug and twist. Can your neck support the body weight of an attacker plus their own strength pulling against it?

Anyhow, I’m probably going to have a whole lot of bare heads showing off those Butcher’s Nails in my army. I maybe still use the bunny ears just to help tell units apart. I do think wearing your helmet into battle is smart…let’s just hope the intimidation factor and the extra protection is worth the risk of having handlebars on your head.

“Every unit of rampaging routiers needs a Berzerker Champion to direct the charge. You can build your own with a choice of four different heads – one helmeted, three bare – and two bespoke shoulder pads. “

I’m a big fan of their shoulder pads now. I love the fact that their icons will be raised on them and we can paint them how we want. It saves me the headache of ordering them from Forge World or using transfer sheets (which I’ve done in the past and really don’t like the process). I also like that these pads are plastic and not resin. This new kit seems like a winner all around to me!

One more update I appreciate is the addition of these massive two-handed weapons. These eviscerators seem very appropriate for these raging madmen and I can’t wait to slap them together and get them on the table!

And then there’s the Plasma Pistols. There’s just something iconic about Chainaxes and Plasma Pistols on Khorne Berzerkers. I mean, we all know they are going to fry themselves when they shoot them…but that’s kind of the point, right?!

All of these bits are going to be great to mix-and-match to create your very own unit(s) of Khorne Berzerkers. Now…I just need to figure out how many boxes I’ll need for a new World Eaters army…
