Games Workshop has revealed lots of different datacards and weapon profiles. Here’s some heavy hitters we’ve seen from 10th edition!
We’ve been getting more and more info about 10th edition drip-fed from the Warhammer Community and we’re liking what we’ve seen (mostly). Today we wanted to pull up some of the datacards and weapons that made a take a step back and say “whoa, now that is some serious firepower!” You’re going to want to keep a list because the toughness of things did shift upwards and the Armor Penetration of many weapons shift to a weaker degree. These heavy hitters will still pack a punch though!
10th Edition Heaviest Hitters
Hekaton Land Fortress
Take a closer look at the Heavy magna-rail cannon. With a range of 30″ and a strength of 18 it’s certainly no slouch! Plus it’s still got AP -4 and does a whopping D6+6 damage! The downside is that it’s only 1 shot…but at least it’s on a weapons platform that has some serious beef to it!
Angron
Angron is going to rip squads of infantry into shreds with all 18 of those attacks. He’s also slightly tougher than non-Daemon Primarchs. Furthermore if you get him into contact with a denser target he’s got Strength 16 attacks with AP -4 and D6+2 damage…with 8 of them he’s no joke! Anything that’s 8 Toughness or lower is going have a real bad day vs Angron.
Doomsday Cannon
This weapon certainly lives up to the name. The Doomsday Cannon has a massive range and the variable shots means it can really spike on the number of shots. If you maxed out that’s a potential 28 damage. Considering it also has Blast, well, that means even big units of infantry have a reason to be afraid — not just hard armor targets. Either way, multiple shots at Strength 15 and AP -4 is no joke. You should take the Doomsday Cannon seriously.
Rupture Cannon

The Tyrannofex is boasting a massive shot of potential damage with the Rupture Cannon. If you were wondering how Tyranids were going to deal with armor on the tabletop other than melee…you’re looking at it! Considering it’s a BS of 3+ and can get the bonus from Heavy, it’s fair precise shooting with a Strength of 18 and AP -4! Now…let’s just hope you roll hot on the 2D6 damage roll.
Volcano Cannon
Okay, this one probably takes the cake…and then promptly incinerates it with extreme prejudice. First up it’s Strength 24. That’s enough to double tough the Hekaton Land Fortress right off the bat. It’s also AP -5. That’s high enough to completely bypass the armor save of pretty much everything we’ve seen so far. And it’s “just” a flat 12 damage hit. If this weapon connects it’s just going to be bad times for anyone that doesn’t have an invulnerable save.
There have been other Heavy Hitters GW has teased — did you favorite make the list? You can bet everyone will be looking at their own arsenal when the new edition drops in the summer. You gotta find the right tool for the job, as they say.
