A new Pathfinder CRPG is in the works from “Baldur’s Gate and Neverwinter Nights veterans,” and it’s launching on Kickstarter next week!

Last week Ossian studios announced a new Pathfinder video game was in the works, and next week it’s going to launch on Kickstarter. Coming September 24th, a date I’m not ready for it to be next week, you’ll be ablet o back Pathfinder: The Dragon’s Demand, which will take you not just into Pathfinder, but into Pathfinder 2E. So get ready to get crunchy.

Pathfinder: The Dragon’s Demand Launches on Kickstarter September 24th

This game marks the first time Pathfinder 2nd Edition’s rules have been adapted into a video game. This is a little wild, considering we’ve seen Pathfinder: Kingmaker and Wrath of the Righteous both released in the last couple of years.

But this one promises a new storyline from another classic module (also called The Dragon’s Demand) and an emphasis on capturing that tabletop style feel. You’ll have a range of options to pick from, including Pathfinder 2E’s unique blend of ancestry and heritage, class and archetype. If you’ve played Pathfinder 2E, you know how customizable and crunchy the details can get.

But it’s also the style of the game’s visuals, which have a more 3d minis in the world kind of look and feel – as well as the game’s focus on combat in three dimensions. Flying enemies will swoop down on you. You’ll take to the skies to engage in thrilling aerial combat. If you fight powerful enemies riding on other powerful enemies, it really will be the full Pathfinder experience.

“The return of a legendary dragon long vanquished sees the town of Belhaim once again under dire threat. The game will present a huge, interactive world to explore, with hundreds of characters and dozens of quests that react to the player’s choices. A cast of colorful companions, including iconic characters such as the goblin alchemist Fumbus, will be on hand to join the player’s party, each featuring their own motivations and backstory.

The unique, grid-based system allows for fully three-dimensional, turn-based combat. Players will need their wits about them as flying enemies swoop down from the skies to attack, and enemy wizards levitate above the field of battle to toss fireballs down upon their foes. The endless tactical and role-playing opportunities encourage players to explore Belhaim and the surrounding lands in their own way, recreating those feelings of excitement and discovery that make the best tabletop campaigns so memorable.
