Several new monsters from the 2025 Monster Manual have hit the internet. In addition to a plethora of preview articles tied to a press briefing held last week (read EN World’s preview here), several art pieces and other previews also made their way onto the internet over the course of the last few days. Here’s a look at the new monsters along with what we know about them:

Vampire Familiar:

The D&D social media accounts posted a statblock of the new Vampire Familiar creature to their social media accounts earlier today. Notably, the creature’s dagger attack deals two types of damage and it also can dash or disengage as a bonus action. Personally, I like the fact it has a climb speed to make encounters extra creepy.

Blob of Annihilation:

This is the high CR ooze threat talked about frequently over the past year during various D&D marketing blitzes promoting the new Core Rulebooks. Notably, the blob has the skull of a god inside.

Haunting Revenant:

The Haunting Revenant is a revenant that possesses the house where their mortal form was killed. Details about this new kind of undead was revealed over on YouTube by the social media creator DianaOfTheRose.

Sphinxes of Wonder:

And finally, these are sphinx of wonder. These appear to be low-level sphinxes, with bright colorful fur and traditionally feline faces. The “Everything You Need to Know” video showed off a larger sphinx with a similar fur pattern and color scheme, so this appears to be a redesign.
