Games Workshop is giving the Traitors their own version of the Herald Consul for the Horus Heresy. Even Traitors take pride in their Legion!
After last week’s reveal of the of Loyalist Herald Consul it was heavily implied by GW that the Traitors were up next. And by “heavily implied” I mean that GW basically told us they were coming. Well, that was then and today we’ve got the new Traitor Herald Consul reporting in.
As the wars of the Horus Heresy consumed the galaxy, billions fought and died under the banners of warlords they had never even seen. Even among the Legiones Astartes, near-religious fervour became common over artefacts supposedly touched by a Primarch, Warmaster or Regent. These were given to a favoured Legion Consul as a sign of authority and favour – and as a symbol of their dishonour.
Traitor Herald Consul
Clearly this character has seen a few things in his time as a Traitor. He’s probably witnessed or been party to the slaying of his loyalist brothers. That said, it takes some guts to hold this massive “shoot here” sign to battle.
Miniature-wise, it’s worth pointing out that this one comes with a pair of head options. The Icon in the standard, however, is always the Eye of Horus. If you’re wondering why it’s because it’s not just a symbol of the Traitor Legion of the Warmaster, it’s also just he general symbol for the Traitor forces. And to prove that point, GW showed off some alternate paint schemes from the team:
I also like the fact that the Traitor Legion Herald Consul is packing an intimidating power axe. He’s ready to do some executing on the battlefield of his own!
This miniature will be cast in Forge World resin and will be available to order soon from GW.
I don’t know if I’d like the “honor” of carrying that banner to battle. Then again, I’m not wearing power armor…
