The Mechanicum is getting a new Heavy Support box that brings the big guns to bear. Two new plastic tank are on the way!
There’s a new boxed set coming soon for the Mechanicum. It’s going to feature the recently revealed Thanatar Calix Siege-automata alongside two brand new plastic tank kits. Let’s check out what’s on the way to the Horus Heresy!
Krios Battle Tank
“The venerable Krios Battle Tank sits apart from its counterparts in the rest of the Imperium. Used only by the armies of Mars, it serves a similar role to the more common Predator, though it eschews armoured plating in favour of an interlaced network of defensive energy shields. This allows it a greater degree of manoeuvrability, which ensures it can easily train its fixed centreline mounted lighting cannon on priority targets.”
The Kiros Battle Tank has a few of different weapon options to choose from. Above is the “fixed centreline mounted lighting cannon” that’s sort of the default option. You can opt for an irradiation blaster or a pulsar-fusil. If you go with the pulsar-fusil the Krios becomes the Kiros Venator:
Really, this tank has a nice modular design that the Mechanicum has used to fill a few different combat roles. This seems like a cool kit to work on for sure.
Karacnos Assault Tank
“The Karacnos Assault tank is a variant of the Triarios Armoured Conveyor, which is famous for its hermetically sealed armour. Its capacious transport bays are replaced with twin mortar batteries packed to the brim with radiological warheads, designed to obliterate organic life ahead of the Mechanicum’s relentless advance.”
The Karacnos Assault tank seems like a scary prospect. Replacing all the transport capacity with mortar batteries is a great way to delver a deadly payload! Even when the mortars are locked down, there’s still the two sponson mounted lightning locks.
I am very curious to see how modular those top wracks of mortars are. I looks like they can open and close which is a really nice touch! The first place you’ll be able to pick up all three of these miniatures is the new Mechanicum Heavy Support Box coming soon. So keep an eye out for that one if you want to really beef up your Mechanicum army!
What do you think of the Mechanicum and their new toys?
