There’s a new Epic Encounter coming soon from Steamforged Games. Can you cross the Bridge of the Duergar Cult?

It’s no secret that I’m a fan of the Epic Encounters from Steamforged Games. They are a fantastic tool for GMs that need specific miniatures and/or a little help planning their next adventure or session. Well, there’s another pair of boxes coming soon and they are perfect for your next delve underground. Why? Because these feature the Duergar and they are up to no good. Steamforged Games sent me a review copy and I’m excited to share the new Bridge of the Duergar Cult with you!

Epic Encounters – Bridge of the Duergar Cult

Kicking things off we have the actual box itself. One of the things I do appreciate about these boxes is that they look good on a shelf after-the-fact. Each of them has a plastic container built in for easy storage for all the miniatures included. Plus, it fits both the map and the super handy booklet that comes with every Epic Encounter.

In total there are 17 miniatures based on 6 different sculpts included in the box — more on those below. There’s also the map which is double-sided and is useful as a set piece to play out this adventure on.

The Adventure Booklet is probably my favorite part of the Epic Encounters. While the miniatures are a very close second, I find the ideas and suggestions in the book on how to run the adventure to be even more useful.  If you’re a GM that’s stretched for time and just need a bit of that mental load lifted for you then these books are a game changer.

As you can see from the table of contents, these books have every thing you need to run the encounters. You’ve got stat blocks for the miniatures/NPCs the players will encounter. And you’ve also got suggestions for the various tiers of play. But my favorite thing are all the Hooks you can use to include this in your games.

Again, they are just suggestions and you can even create your own reasons — this is just another resource to add to your GM toolbox. The Adventure in the book can be run straight up from the book. Or you can put your own spin on things to make it more custom to your party.

There’s loads of details you can lean into or ignore entirely. That’s what’s so fantastic about these Epic Encounters and while I think they are fantastic. I’ve always wanted to throw some Duergar minis at my party and now I’ve got an entire boxed adventure ready to go.

The Duergar Miniatures

As mentioned above there are 17 miniatures in total. These are spread across the 6 different sculpts. I really like the amount of details on these miniatures, too. Steamforged Games uses a dyed material as well. The miniatures come out of the box like this, fully assembled. While you can opt to paint them (and you totally can) they are ready to be used right away.

I also appreciate that you get various different minions as well as a pair of Ogres and the “boss” miniature too. Heck, Maybe you’re players will even want to use one of these miniatures as a future character of their own!

They fit the theme of the battle/play mat as well. And they all fit on the 1″ squad grids like you’d expect. This Epic Encounter is just waiting for your party to attempt to cross the Bridge of the Duergar Cult!

The Bridge of the Duergar Cult is currently up for pre-order from Steamforged Games. It’s got a ship date of May 13, 2025 and retails for $59.99. Also, this is just the first part of the Duergar Cult adventure Stay tuned for the follow-up tomorrow…
