Blades in the Dark just got a new, community-fueled update to the popular expansion, Deep Cuts, in the form of a 1.1 update from creator John Harper.

Not long after the initial release of the Deep Cuts, a major new expansion for Blades in the Dark from creator John Harper, comes an update that clarifies and tweaks the expansion with new sheets and more. If you missed the initial release, Blades in the Dark: Deep Cuts is a 118-page book packed with new rules and new lore that really deepens the BitD experience.

What’s really exciting here is the modular nature of the rules. You can use the ones you want, ignore the ones you don’t, and get your crew back in action fast. With updates to everything from Harm and Healing to Actions and Teamwork, there’s plenty to love. And the new 1.1 update makes that a lot clearer.

Blades in the Dark: Deep Cuts 1.1 Update – Live Now On DriveThruRPG

The Deep Cuts 1.1 update provides some explicit clarity around certain rules. In particular, if you’ve been using the Threat Rolls and Teamwork rules, the update gives some clear-cut use cases, as well as additional flexibility. GMs and Players will find a lot to tinker with. If you love getting in under the hood of a game or just having new options, this book has you covered.

Here’s a look at some of the changes:

  • Added separate faction status trackers for Nobility and Citizens in each district (on the faction sheet).
  • Added explicit permission for you to print the file for personal use.
  • Clarified the text for Level 1 Harm becoming Level 2.
  • Corrected some of the numbers for Heat from a score. Added a note about bribing an official to reduce Wanted Levels (page 83). Added the option to reduce Heat with the Work activity in Downtime.
  • Rewrote the Scoundrel downtime activities for clarity.
  • Included an option for the Work activity to gain a benefit besides earning Coin.
  • Added a note about how to use the Threat Roll so it feels more like an Action Roll if that’s your preference (page 97)
  • Added a note in the Threat Roll system changes about how to handle rolling an Action with zero rating when you face multiple threats (page 106).
  • Rewrote Teamwork to make it more clear and flexible.

You can find a full list of changes right here. And with the 1.1 update live, it’s the perfect excuse to return to Doskvol. Crimes – and opportunities beckon.

Doskvol awaits. Get out there and make your fortune!
