Are you looking for an Epic Encounter to cap off a story arc? Then face off against the Circle of the Demon Prince — if you dare!
Yesterday, I tackled the upcoming Bridge of the Duergar Cult from Steamforged Games. Well today, I’ve got the follow-up/end cap for that adventure arc. Those Duergar Cultists were up to no good and they roused a Demon Prince to come play. Now your party has to deal with it! Good luck, they’ll need it…
Steamforged Games sent me a review copy of this one and I’m happy to get to tear into the upcoming Epic Encounters: Circle of the Demon Prince!
Epic Encounters: Circle of the Demon Prince Unboxed
Kicking things off, we’ve got a quick look at the contents. You get the very large and highly-detailed Demon Prince Miniature, the Encounter Booklet, a double-sided battlemap, and additional tokens for the extra Duergar you might need. It’s worth noting that the tokens directly correspond to the Duergar from the previous set I reviewed. So, ideally, you’d have both sets and then you can play this as one continuous adventure with all the minis you’d need.
Alternatively, you can also just run these as independent adventures. While they are designed to work together, there’s nothing saying you have to run them together. That’s another thing I like about the Epic Encounters as a whole — these are just tools in the GM toolbox. You can choose how you want to use them. That said, the Encounter Booklet has a LOT of helpful tips. Speaking of which…
Encounter Booklet
Above you can see the table of contents for the Encounter Booklet. It’s got a TON of good info on how to use this product in any game. I always like to read the hooks sections just for ideas that can be added to any campaign. You also don’t have to run the encounter exactly as described — feel free to make tweaks and changes. It’s your game; you do you! But if you’re short on time and want an easy “pick-up and play” adventure with a really big bad to deal with, well, here ya go!
I know I’ve talked-up the Encounter Booklets before but above you can see some of the tips and suggestions for this particular adventure. I really do think there’s a lot of useful things in there to work with for a GM of any skill level. Steamforged Games makes it easy with the Epic Encounters. Circle of the Demon Prince is no different! On top of that this isn’t their first rodeo and they’ve refined these adventures pretty well at this point. All for the GM’s benefit!
Map & Tokens
As mentioned there is a double-sided battlemap included for this adventure. The Encounter Booklet also has a diagram of the battlemaps with important things noted on them. It’s a typical 1″ grid printed on top of the maps, too. Oh, and there’s a look at the tokens.
Again, these are the exact same number and types of characters from the Bridge of the Duergar Cult box. Use the minis or tokens — whichever is more convenient for you. Now, let’s check out the big bad from this box.
The Demon Prince Miniature
The Demon Prince miniature is a massive monster. It comes in three sections that are easy to assemble. You’ve got the main body and two wings. This miniature doesn’t really need glue for assembly. However, if you’re in a hobby-sort of mood you can absolutely glue those wings in place and paint it up.
I really like the details on this miniature. It’s climbing out of a pool of…well, whatever you want it to be! The chest has an impressive amount of stuff going on I also like that this Demon Prince is chained, but it’s clearly breaking free from whatever binding it has.

This miniature is pretty creepy — as you’d expect a Demon Prince to be. He’s sure to be a shock and delight for your players to tackle in this adventure! I won’t spoil his stats but he does scale based on your group’s adventuring level. So have fun with this adventure and the Demon Prince encounter in particular!
You can pre-order both Epic Encounters boxes from Steamforged Games. They are currently up for pre-order with a slated release date of May 13, 2025. It’s an adventure your party won’t soon forget!
When the Duergar summon a Demon Prince you know it’s gonna be trouble!
