Wizards of the Coast updated details on Magic: The Gathering – Final Fantasy, a new booster set, which will hit stores on June 13, 2025.
The highly-anticipated Final Fantasy set (see “‘Final Fantasy’ Product Line Deets Revealed“) will feature an array of different card treatments. First and foremost, for collectors, this set will have serialized cards. There will be a serialized Golden Traveling Chocobo card, with only 77 in existence, that can be found in Collector Boosters. There will also be several other rare versions of the Traveling Chocobo card (a Japanese text version and different colored parallels) that can found in Collector packs.
Other treatments include Final Fantasy artist cards, which feature new artwork from artists who have worked on the video game series, and Final Fantasy Through the Ages treatments, which are retro art treatments. Then, of course, there will be borderless treatments for character cards. The set will also have full-art basic lands depicting locations from Final Fantasy, a Woodblock card showcase treatment, (which pays homage to Japanese woodblock prints), and extended art cards.
Some of the other interesting aspects of the set is that Adventure cards return, but this time, they are attached to lands. In the past, the Adventure cards had traditionally been attached to creatures since they had first been printed in Throne of Eldraine (see “‘Throne of Eldraine’ Product Line“).
