The Kruleboyz are heading to the Realm of Life with new rules. Time to see what they are bringing to the tabletop in Age of Sigmar!
Games Workshop is continuing with the Scourge of Ghyran rules updates for the faction in Warhammer: Age of Sigmar. Today, we’re getting a look at the Kruleboyz to see what new dirty tricks they have. From a quick glance I can see we’re getting two new battle formations, three new monstrous traits, and two alternate warscrolls. Let’s dive into the muck and see what the Kruleboyz came up with.
“Wot’s dis? Looks like some kunnin’ rulez for da Kruleboyz. Deyhad better be ded sneaky and well stabby. “

Scourge of Ghyran – Kruleboyz Battle Formations
The Kruleboyz are marching to war with two new battle formations. Swamphorde Bullies lets them use the Gangin’ Up ability in any combat phase. The requirements mean you need to have at least two Kruleboyz units in combat with the same enemy unit. However, one of those units can then add +1 to all their attacks for the rest of the turn.
Badmouthing Baiterz comes with another ability. Krule Mockery can only be used during your shooting phase but it forces an enemy unit to end their move closer to the Insult Hurla unit or suffer D6 mortal damage. I suppose that’s one way to command the enemy’s attention!
Scourge of Ghyran – Kruleboyz Monterous Traits
The three new Monstrous Traits are aptly named: Mean ‘un, Tough ‘un, and Skeaky ‘un.
“Mean monsters get a nasty +1 attack, all the better to eat you with. Sneaky monsters can, once per battle, move out of combat in the Hero phase without taking any damage while Tough monsters reduce the Rend of enemy weapons that hit them.”
These are all relatively straight forward and easy to understand. Personally, I’d have a tough time choosing between Tough ‘un and Mean ‘un. Then again, Sneaky ‘un could also prove very useful for the Kruleboyz who are known to appreciate a good “hit and run” tactic. Choosing the right trait for your monsters could be tough!
Scourge of Ghyran Kruleboyz Warscrolls
Finally, we get to the two new warscrolls. Swampboss Skumdrekk is up first. He’s learned a new trick with the Thrashing Tail ability. It can allow him to get crits on a 5+ which is always nice.
He’s also taken up wagering with his boyz thanks to his new Rigged Odds passive. This one allows him to make those dirty tricks a tad more reliable.
The other warscroll is for the Killaboss on Great Gnashtoof. Drag’em Out certainly seems like a really weird ability. It allows for the Killaboss to move during any combat phase while they are in combat with an enemy hero. You get a 2D6 roll and then the Killaboss gets to move that distance. If that wasn’t enough, the enemy hero must then be placed (by the opponent) within 1″ of the Killaboss. Very odd. But also sneaky!

The Killaboss can also use the new Prowling the Flanks ability to rapidly move from one battlefield edge to another. I think this one could get a lot of use as it can literally fling your Killaboss across the tabletop. Just don’t leave them hanging out alone.
Well that’s all for the Kruleboyz as they enter the Scourge of Ghyran. What’s your take on these new abilities?
