The new Games Workshop Rumor Engine is sending it’s signal once again. This time it looks like we’ve got an antenna on our hands.
Well we’re back once again and it’s another Tuesday. Hopefully by now you know the drill. There’s a new Rumor Engine to pontificate on and I think it’s only right if you take a look before I share more of my opinion on this one.
“Have you ever stopped to think that all of this is made up? That the Rumour Engine is not actually real, so much a narrative device trotted out once a week to bookend a teaser picture?“
Rumor Engine – Antenna Time
Meta-commentary on a brewing existential crisis aside, let’s get into the picture. It certainly does look very much like an antenna. But that’s the easy part. The real question is who’s antenna are we looking at?
If I had to guess (and of course I do — that’s why we do this every week) I’d say this is something of Imperial-make. It’s got those sharp edges that the Imperium designers like so much. It doesn’t look retro-futuristic enough to be Adeptus Mechanicus though. I’d have to go with either Space Marines or Astra Militarum. Or perhaps even Sisters of Battle.
The double antenna is on many Space Marine vehicles and troopers. For example, the Gladiator and it’s variants have it. Primaris Infiltrators have them, too:
Oh, and the Repulsor also. But I think you get the idea. As for the Astra Militarum, the double antenna is less common. But there’s still plenty of single antenna on their vehicles in particular. The Sentinels are a good example. And so is the Rogal Dorn Battle Tank, too.
They also have various infantry units that carry them with their radio operator miniatures. You can spot them in Command Squads.
The point being that both vehicles and troopers in the Imperium have been known to carry antenna around. So is this on a vehicle or is a trooper lugging around some radio equipment? I guess we’ll have to wait and find out! In the meantime, if you’ve got any ideas drop us a line in the comments with your theories.
I wonder if this one could be from the Heresy-era, too?
