Games Workshop is pulling the covers off the new character updates coming for the Space Wolves in Warhammer 40,000!

There are five new and updated characters coming to the Space Wolves range. From the might of Logan Grimnar to the brave Wolf Guard Battle Leader these characters cut a mighty path. Today we’re getting a few previews from them. Let’s learn what the Space Wolf leaders are bringing to the tabletop.

Logan Grimnar & Arjac Rockfist

Games Workshop isn’t giving away all the goods at once this time. We’ve got a taste of what the old wolf has planned. Guile of the Wolf is going to mess with your enemy’s ability to use stratagems by increasing the cost by 1 CP — if they target a unit with 12″ of Logan Grimnar. We also know he’s (of couse) in his Terminator Armor and he’ll also be able to rely on the Wolf Guard Terminators for back-up thanks to their Rugged Resilience.

As for Arjac Rockfist, well, he’s back with his pain-dishing Foehammer. And he’s gotten even deadlier against enemy characters, too.

I think these two characters are going to two peas in a pod. And, if you wanted to fill out that pod, bring along some Wolf Guard Terminators, too. That’s going to be one beefy brick of a unit for your opponents to deal with!

Njal Stormcaller

Njal Stormcaller has traded in his kit for Power Armor once again. However, that’s going to open up some new opportunities for him to lead Grey Hunters now. I’ll let GW explain how Wind Walker really complements this pairing:

“With an effective movement of 13”, the Assault weapon ability on their rapid-firing bolt carbines, and a whopping OC of three apiece, Njal and his Grey Hunters can rapidly relocate and dominate objectives at will.”

That sure sounds like a good reason to slap Njal Stormcaller in a unit of Grey Hunters to me! Fast moving, deadly, and great for taking/holding objectives. What more could you want?

Wolf Priests

The new Wolf Priest kit comes with a quite a few different assembly options. All the better to represent what they do on the tabletop. Litany of Hate is just a great ability for your melee-centric units. Healing Balms allows you to just return a slain model back to the unit this wolf priest is leading. And that can happen in every one of your Command Phases.

Wolf Guard Battle Leader

The Wolf Guard Battle Leader is anything but “generic” in the Space Wolves army. You’ve got plenty of options when you kit one out.

“Whether you choose to arm both your heroic leader and his bodyguard with storm shields for additional staying power and take the fight to the foe on foot, or ride to war inside an Impulsor with dual-wielding Headtakers for a brace of additional Attacks, they’re a match made in the halls of Russ.”

Personally, I like the idea of the dual-wielding option of Headtakers plus the Wolf Guard Battle Leader. It’s just even more attacks for more chances to hit and wound. It’s a plan I can get behind.

Space Wolf Detachment – Saga of the Bold

Finally, we get a look at the Saga of the Bold Detachment. You can see all the rules above. Ideally, you’ll want to load up on Space Wolf characters to really get the most out of the Heroes All ability. Just keep in mind that you’ll want to complete the Saga as fast as possible to pass on those benefits to the rest of the army.

Just don’t forget to bring along a Skjald for the extra CP generation, too.

The Space Wolves are coming — Are you ready for them to take to the tabletop once more?
