Nurgle has some new gifts for his Maggotkin as they do battle in the Realm of Life. Time for the cycle to continue once more!

Ghyran is going to host some epic battles in the months to come. However, the Maggotkin of Nurgle have been raging a war in Ghyran for a while. As the Realm of Life, it has been in a constant battle against the rot, plague, and decay of Nurgle who seeks to claim this realm as his own. So basically, the Maggotkin of Nurgle have been the Scourge of Ghyran since the beginning! Everyone else is just now joining the party.

Having said that, Nurgle is stepping up the aggression in Ghyran. The Maggotkin are getting three new heroic traits, three new prayers, and a new alternate warscroll to use. So let’s check them out!

“It’s been said that there are many Scourges of Ghyran. This is a lie. There is only one true Scourge of Ghyran, the blessed plague legions of Grandfather Nurgle! Through pox and plague, despair and decay, they bring rot and ruination to the Realm of Life.”

Scourge of Ghyran Maggotkin of Nurgle Heroic Traits

First up we have Living Plague. This one is pretty simple as it allows for the Maggotkin to give one enemy that got charged the Diseased keyword. That should help with the rest of the fight against that target.

Next up is Corpulent Avalance which can be triggered in any charge phase. It can cause mortal damage to the target which is nice but it can also grant the hero a bonus 2D3″ move. That move can allow them to pass through the enemy unit but it must end it’s move in combat still.

Finally, we have the Unctuous Preacher which is a fancy way of calling someone waaaay to excited about something. In this case, they are BIG fans of Nurgle. So big that if they weren’t a Priest, they now count as a Priest (1). And if they were already a Priest, they now can add 1 to their chanting rolls.

Scourge of Ghyran Maggotkin of Nurgle Prayer Lore

“It seems like Nurgle’s faithful have been rehearsing some Benedictions of Sickness. The Infectious Surge gets your Maggotkin waddling a bit quicker towards the enemy, Frothing Mucus can protect them from harm (like they need it!), and Agonising Vomiting simply makes the enemy puke all over the place. A simple point and barf.”

As you can see the three prayers above I won’t go over each of their rules. But I’d keep an eye on the Agonising Vomiting prayer.  Sure it’s simple but it’s effective. Especially if you can get a couple boosts to your chanting roll and get a 6+. Doing mortal wounds on a 3+ seems pretty mean and a great way to snag some damage on a target.

Finally we have the alternate version of Rotigus. The Rainfather is back and is ready to rain his filth all over the Realm of Life. His new abilities include penalties to enemy armor saves with Befouled Rainfall. He’s also got Virulent Downpour which can increase the range of his ability and cause mortal damage, too. He’s got a +1 to casting and he’s also a threat in close combat with his Tentacular Grip. He’s really a threat on the tabletop no matter how you slice it!

Will the Maggotkin of Nurgle finally claim the Realm of life? Or will these rules not pass the smell test?
