The Vongrim Salvagers is a mishmash of Kharadron Overlords members. But don’t discount them on the tabletop in Age of Sigmar.
Kharadron Overlords have built their society on a set of rules. This Code helps to regulate and standardize their trade and commerce as well as other things. But not of the members of their society “fit in” with the Code. That’s where the Vongrim Guild comes into play. This is the home for the have-nots. And they are a key part of finding workarounds for the “rejects” from other Guilds.
“Those who fail in their climb to the top – left without ships or dismissed from the Arkanaut Companies – are sometimes drawn to the Vongrim Guild. An organisation accepting of those who have fallen on bad times, it finds loopholes in the Code to justify unorthodox tactics. And as the rise of Chaos threatens law-abiding sky-ports all over the Mortal Realms it’s finding more work than ever…”
Vongrim Salvagers On The Tabletop
This new unit is brining a lot of utility to the tabletop. It’s a weird mix for sure. But that’s part of the appeal. They have helpful equipment that isn’t exactly standard issue. Things like the Spotter’s Flaregun or their Vongrim Cutlasses for example.
The Spotter’s Flaregun gives your units a nice boost if they can manage to roll a 3+. On top of that those Cutlass attacks are no joke with Crit (2 Hits). Not too shabby.
The Salvagers also make a nice pairing with the Vongrim Harpoon Crew. They are monster-hunters to their core and are looking to take out skybeasts (or really just BEASTS in general). The come with some unique equipment of their own.
Honestly, these Light Endringpacks sound really useful. The bonus 2D6″ move can be used to hop from one enemy unit to another or to create some unique positioning problems for the enemy. Plus, their Skydrake Harpoons get some extra rend vs Monsters which is approriate.
Army of Renown – The Magnate’s Crew
If you’re looking to set out to find fortune of your own then maybe you should take a look at The Magnate’s Crew as your Army of Renown option. This one centers around Brokk Grungsson, Lord-Magnate of Barak-Nar. But you can also use a generic Magnate of your own if you want. In either case you’ll get access to some new tricks to try out.
Both of these abilities seem really great for getting out of a jam — or causing one of your own. These movement tricks are just one of the things that make the Kharadron Overlords so tough to pin down. Using them wisely is what make a great Sky Admiral (or Magnate in this case).
There’s more Kharadron Overlords looking to land at a dock (aka a Tabletop) near you!
