It’s time to take a closer look inside the new Duel Pack for Star Wars: Shatterpoint – I Am No Jedi is in the house!

It seems like everyone wants a piece of Darth Vader because this is his second Duel Pack. We’ve got sent the new I Am No Jedi Duel Pack from Atomic Mass Games for a review copy. I’m the lucky one that got to unbox this one and build the minis. I have some tips so let’s check this one out.

I Am No Jedi Duel Pack Unboxing

Kicking things off just like we always do with AMG products, we’ve got the contents laid out. Still in their respective baggies we have the cards and the sprue. This one is special because it also comes with custom bases as part of the sprue as well.

As for the cards, it’s a full playset for each supported language. So plenty cards to add to your collection.

Here’s a look at their respective activation cards and their stances. I am using a second card to show the backside of Ahsoka’s stance card off. I’ve also done the same for their character rules cards as you can see below.

Darth Vader in this set is actually a Secondary Unit which I find interesting. That’s probably for balance reasons but I also feel like that means you can include him in some other rosters if you’re looking for that special Vader-sauce without the big man running things. I also like that this is the third version of Vader we’ve gotten in the Shatterpoint, too. It’s also the third pose they’ve come up with for him…but more on that when we get to the miniatures.

As far as Ahsoka Tano, she’s a Primary Unit. Interestingly this version of her is the same SP but brings another Force Point to the tabletop. That seems fitting as this version represents a more mature version that the one from the core set. She’s still a deadly combatant and fearless warrior, too.

Now, let’s check out that sprue…

As you can see both of these characters come on a single sprue. It’s worth pointing out that Vader has an alternate head option. You can go with the cracked-mask look if you choose to do so. Personally, I went for the pre-battle damage look. Ideally, you’d have the Con exclusive cinematic display with this kit. Unfortunately, I do not. But if you did, then these bases would slot in and you’ve have quite a cool display!

I Am No Jedi Miniatures

For the miniatures, I built them and I have a few tips I wanted to share. Overall, this was a pretty easy build and I like the way each of them turned out.

First up, let’s talk about Ahsoka’s miniature. She’s got the double lightsaber in a reverse grip. It looks pretty cool…but also a little awkward. I do recommend dry fitting those arms because you’ll want to see how they slot in before you glue them.

For assembly tips, I only have 2 things I wanted to point out. First up, her foot only attaches to the base via a pin and a bit of the flat part on ball of her foot. I recommend assembling the whole model first and then attaching it. I used plastic glue to melt/bond everything and that almost made the miniature tip forward. If you really want to put her on the base solidly, I’d build her mini, glue her to the extra part of the base on a flat surface, and then once that’s all set, glue that to the base properly.

The second thing I’d point out was her Twi’lek head tail — the one on the back specifically, can be a little tricky. Dry fit that one before hand so you know how it’s going to fit. I also think you’ll want to glue her head to the torso before that and then add the rear tail. However you do it, I think you’ll end up with a very cool looking and dynamically posed Ahsoka Tano!

As far as Darth Vader this one was super easy to build. The only “tricky” part was the cape. You’ll want to glue the arms in first, then the cape, and then the head last. If you dry fit this miniature (are we detecting a theme yet?) then you’ll see how it’s should all fit together.

Again, I like the pose. Being the third version of Vader in the game they still managed to make his miniature be a tad more distinct that the other two. Clearly in this pose he’s getting ready to do some Force Push/Pull/Choke/Throw. He’s still got the billowing cape thing going on though! Overall, I generally like both miniatures and I kind of want to use this miniature of Vader with the Fear and Dead Men rules…
