Games Workshop has a pair of new Combat Patrols on the way. The Harlequins and the Death Korps of Krieg are on deck for Warhammer 40,000!

Well this is just a tad unexpected. As you can see from the title the Harlequins and Death Korps are getting Combat Patrols. I’m not that surprised about the Death Korps getting one. In fact, you could honestly say that it’s about time they got one. But what I’m more shocked about is that the Harlequins are getting one. Am I glad to see them getting some attention? Yes. But that doesn’t mean this isn’t surprising news. Anyhow, let’s dig a little deeper.

“Many warriors have long since learned the chilling effect they have, and two of the most prolific mask-wearing factions are venturing into small-scale Warhammer 40,000 with brand new Combat Patrols.”

So this set consists of a Solitaire leading a troupe of Six Harlequins, two Skyweavers, a Starweaver, and a Voidweaver. Honestly, this is kind of a terrifying Combat Patrol just for the sheer speed of the Harlequins. Not to mention they can hit fairly hard, too. Anyone that’s played with or against them can tell you that pinning them down is tough. They might not have the numbers of some of the other Combat Patrols but don’t let the clown masks throw you off. Harlequins can be a deadly opponent!

Again, I would have expected this one to come out closer to when the Astra Militarum got their codex but at least it’s here now. To lead them into battle you’ve got a six-man Command Squad, followed by a 10-man Deaht Korps Troop. Backing them up is a five-strong Death Rider Cavalry and a Heavy Weapon Squad of four. It’s actually a solid mix of units and I think a good core to build from.

These two Combat Patrols are coming to pre-order soon enough. We’ll have to be a bit more patient for them to arrive. Which one are you most interested in?

Interesting mix for both armies!
