In Storm Weavers, there is no party of heroes. There is just you. You’re Thymin, a dwarven mercenary travelling across the icy North to rescue a friend.

The campaign is going well. Pawel Dziemski asked for €8,000 to fund Thymin’s adventure, and the Kickstarter community likes what it sees and has found nearly €40,000 with 25 days still, at the time of writing, still to go. You can see the latest totals or join in from the project page.

Storm Weavers shows a game board and models, but the system’s heart is a gamebook. It’s a 350-page story which, like other choose your own adventure books, gives your paragraphs of text and then some options; you pick the response you want and find the matching results elsewhere in the book.

Unlike basic gamebooks, though, Storm Weavers supports a points-based chargen system, and some pages show a map layout that indicates where enemies might be standing. Through this approach and a combat engine, Storm Weavers introduces some tabletop tactics to the game.

A pledge of €20 (about £18) gets you a PDF version designed to be printed off.

Stepping up to €39 gets you the hardback book, 3 adventure sheets, 30 cardboard minis, 9 combat maps and the PDF, plus any stretch goals that are unlocked.

There’s a higher tier still as “The Monster Slayer” level opens up at €66 that adds 30 organic glass minis, 2 dice and the Storm Weavers pencil to the collection.

Dziemski is based in Warsaw, and as well as an English version of Storm Weavers, there’s a French version. Pick the right one.

The PDF and The Monster Slayer options are expected to fulfil in October this year, and the Journey tier, without the glass minis, in November.
