Get ready for a bullet-hell of your own making! It’s Warhammer Survivors coming to Steam in 2026!
Okay, I did not have “Survivors Game Set in the Warhammer Universes” on my bingo card. But here we are. Get ready for Warhammer Survivors!
From the video description:
“Warhammer Survivors is coming soon! This fast-paced roguelite survivors game lets you play as characters from the Warhammer 40,000 and Warhammer Age of Sigmar universes, where you will collect and fight with iconic weapons as you destroy swarms of deadly enemies. Coming to Steam in 2026.”
Now, I’m already a fan of Warhammer. I’m also a bit of a Survivors-genre fan, too. So when I saw this screen pop up in the video, I may have let out a *tiny* WAAAGH! slip out in excitement.
“But what’s Poncle’s Vampire Survivors Engine? What the heck is a Survivors-game anyhow?” If you’re not familiar with the game Vampire Survivors at all, where have you been for the past 3 years? Anyhow, it’s a popular retro-styled top down action game. It takes the old school “bullet-hell” concept and flips the script. Instead of having to dodge waves of enemies and all the bullets they are shooting, you’re actually the one shooting all the bullets vs waves of enemies who are trying to slam into you. Oh and your attacks auto-fire so you just need to move around and focus on pick-ups and dodging.
Personally, I really like this genre of games. I’ve got over a hundred hours in Vampire Survivors and have played through most of the DLCs in that game. (Which reminds me I need to snag Ante Chamber when I get a chance…) I enjoy this type of game because I think they have a really great play-loop of the initial “just try and survive” which unlocks new characters/weapons/abilities. And then those new unlocks allow you to survive longer, which leads to more unlocks, which…well, you see where I’m going with this.
One other aspect I like about this genre is that part of the enjoyment (for me at least) is seeing what ridiculously over powered combos I can create with those same unlocks. There’s also a bunch of hidden secrets scattered around and other silly things. So yeah, I’m going to be picking this one up for sure.
Two Universes, One Game
One thing I was also not expecting was the fact that this game is slamming both the 40k and AoS universes together. And honestly, I’m here for that! The concept absolutely works for both universes and I’m wondering if we’re going to see some cross over with those weapon unlocks (I REALLY hope so).
WarCom also has even more details that are giving me hope for this one:
” Soon you’ll be able to take up a boltgun or blade and face down a seemingly endless tide of enemies because we’ve partnered with Auroch Digital, makers of the retro shooter Boltgun, alongside poncle, the developers of cult hit rogue-like game Vampire Survivors, to create the upcoming Warhammer Survivors!”
So yes, they are working with the Boltgun crew AND the Vampire Survivors crew for this one! The retro vibes are strong with this one. I also think both those companies have a pretty good track record (at least for my tastes) and I’m willing to give this one a shot for sure.

WarCom also dropped some info on the characters in the game:
- Malum Caedo from Warhammer 40,000: Boltgun
- Cadian Shock Trooper Kozlowski
- Brother Luca, a Space Marine Intercessor
- Neave Blacktalon
- Gotrek Gurnisson
- Sharynn Azurwrath, a Stormcast Eternals Vanquisher
And according to them, “That’s just a fraction of the roster you can look forward to meeting…” which sounds awesome.
Personally, I just hope that we get to mix and match these characters and abilities to come up with all the insanity that Survivors-games have. This isn’t an “immersive simulation” game. It’s about game breaking combos and “make big number go up” as you murder you way across the screen!
Warhammer Survivors is current available to wishlist on Steam. If you’re a fan of Warhammer, mindlessly slaying hordes of enemies, Survivor-genre games, or really any combo of those, then you should check this one out!
I am SO here for this!
