We’re continuing down the Warhammer: 40,000 Chaos Battleforce road and the next pricing breakdown is full of skulls!
As you probably remember Games Workshop announced the new Chaos Battleforces for the New Year. I wrote up my thoughts on that and even did a breakdown on the pricing for the Lords of Excess already. Now, the Khorne Daemonkin Battleforce is a bit of an odd duck to me. Why? Because it’s basically half Chaos Daemons.
It’s also designed specifically to be used with the Khorne Daemonkin Detachment option for the World Eaters. All of that checks out. Still, the future state of Chaos Daemons is a little wobbly. That said, I’m still going to do some math and figure out what sort of deal we’re getting for this one.
Khorne Daemonkin Battleforce
Contents:
Total Individual MSRP: $370
Total Estimated Savings (based on a $250 price point): $120
Overall, I think this one is probably fine. But also you have to remember two key things which I mentioned above: 1) It’s designed to be used with the a very specific detachment and 2) it’s heavily Khorne Daemon supplemented. If you’re okay with those things then it seems like a good place to grab a bunch of Khorne units.
It kind of works with the Combat Patrol. I say “kind of” because you’re doubling up on the Master of Execution. Which is a miniature that sort of snuck in this Battleforce. The original WarCom article made no mention of him at all. Seriously, here’s a screenshot of their text:

I see the Lord on Juggernaut, Bloodcrushers, and all the blocks of infantry…but no mention of the Master of Executions. Meh, whatever. I guess that makes the box more valuable? Anyhow, I’ve said my piece on this one so I’ll try to stick to the facts. Let’s jump to the points…
Khorne Daemonkin Points
Feel free to double check my math on this one as I’m just pulling from the official points.
In total I’m seeing a point value in this box of 745. Which is less than the points in the Lords of Excess box. That said, it’s packed with all those Bloodletters who are decent fodder for sure. There’s plenty of room to add other characters or grow an army from this one and also purchase whatever Detachment rules you want.
Personally, I’d be looking at adding Angron. And Skarbrand. But that’s because I’m a little crazy and I like low model counts. It’s less to travel with. But on a more serious note, I’d also want to take a much harder look at the Khorne Daemonkin Detachment rules and really try and figure out what makes them tick before I committed to this one.
So if you’re looking to really bring a mixed force of mortal and daemons of Khorne this is a good place to start. Where you go from there is really open. You’ve got like 1200 points to play around with to round out a list to 2000 points. I’m pretty sure you could build one worth of Khorne!
If you’re going to bring the Khorne Daemons, you might as well bring BIG Daemons…
