Illumination, Nintendo, and Universal’s The Super Mario Galaxy Movie has crushed the Easter box office this weekend, according to Deadline. It is projected to land at around $370.7 million worldwide for its six-day opening. In terms of domestic box office, it will rake in about $188.56 million. The first movie in the series, Super Mario Bros Movie, did a slightly higher $204.6 million domestic over its initial five-day stretch (see “‘Super Mario Bros.’ Sets Record“).
Warner Bros. Animation, DC Studios, and Warner Home Entertainment will show Batman: Knightfall Part 1: Knightfall at the Annecy Animation Festival in France, which takes places from June 21-27, 2026, according to Variety. First announced back at New York Comic Con 2025, this movie is the first in a series of animated features that covers the events of the Knightfall comic book event (see “‘Batman: Knightfall’ Animated Movies“). It is expected to head direct to home video and digital release this year.
Peacock will adapt Dungeon Crawler Carl into a live-action TV series based on the LitRPG books by Matt Dinniman (see “ICv2 Insider Talks“), according to Variety. Seth MacFarlane will executive produce the series via Fuzzy Door, and Chris Yost is attached as a writer and executive producer. Vault Comics is planning graphic novels (see “‘Dungeon Crawler Carl’“), and a Dungeon Crawler Carl line of games is also slated for release in 2026 (see “‘Dungeon Crawler Carl’ Miniatures“).
Disney+ and Lucasfilm announced the renewal of Star Wars: Maul – Shadow Lord for a second season. The renewal comes ahead of the release of the first season on April 6, 2026 (see “‘Star Wars: Maul’ Trailers“).
Amazon MGM Studios released a new trailer for Masters of the Universe (see below). This movie will be landing in theaters on June 5, 2026 (see “‘Masters of the Universe’“).
DC Studios released a new trailer for Supergirl (see below). This movie, starring Milly Alcock as Supergirl and Jason Momoa as Lobo, hits theaters on June 26, 2026 (see “Best in Shows — 2026“).
