Well this is awkward. The Games Workshop Rumor Engine is MIA for the second week in a row. I guess we all need time off eventually.
So the last official Rumor Engine we got a was on March 24, 2026. That was a two weeks ago at this point. Now, last week was the week after AdeptiCon. With all the big reveals and even the GW team traveling to do the reveal live, I can understand that missing that week. But we’re now two weeks out and still no Rumor Engine.
The last Rumor Engine was this little Bonsai guy.
Typically the only major breaks we see for the Rumor Engine are in December. But that’s also because GW does an Advent Calendar and we get a ton of reveals over that time period anyhow. That said, I’m wondering if we’re not getting a Rumor Engine because of the Armageddon reveals on Monday’s now.
New Vanguard Veteran…it’s An Assault Intercessor with a crux terminatus, a power sword, and a master-crafted plasma pistol. Cool…but not exactly earth shattering here.
So What About The Rumors?
Which, yeah, I get that 11th edition Warhammer 40,000 is kind of a big deal. That said, the Rumor Engine also teases other systems from Games Workshop besides 40k. There’s some funky stuff happening with the Mortal Realms right now. That whole Chronicles of Ruin is the current story arc but even beyond that, there’s apparently things happening. If we want to cover an actual Rumor for a second, there was a whole thing that was posted by a “well known and highly trusted leaker*” that the Mortal Realms were about to get the End Times treatment and were going to get smashed together to become some sort of Mortal Realms Pangea planet thing.
Now, I take rumors like this with a grain of salt. Which has really lost it’s meaning to many folks on the internet apparently. The phrase “take it with a grain of salt” means to put the same value on the rumor you would as a single grain of salt…which is to say not a whole lot of value. Another way to put it is “pics or it didn’t happen.” Until we get some credible evidence that we ARE getting the End Times part 2 for the Mortal Realms, well, I’m not going to hold my breath and wait for it to happen.
And just to be clear, this isn’t a debate on IF that should happen or not. I’m just pointing out an actual rumor that was making the rounds. And again, that was a RUMOR meaning it’s not proven. Could it be true? The best rumors that gain traction typically have some sort of wish fulfilment or nugget of truth in them. And sometimes both. I’m taking it with healthy skepticism. There’s still a whole lot of Age of Sigmar left before this current edition gets exploded. After that though…I guess we’ll see!
Part of the reason I really like the Rumor Engines is because we get those pictures of SOMETHING coming. And it’s from GW and not some cheeky potato camera. Sure the image might be extra zoomed in and in gray-scale color, but that’s part of the appeal. It’s a tease. But at least we all know it’s real. I’ll take those any day of the week over a post on a forum. Preferably on Tuesdays.
What’s funny to me is that it really doesn’t matter if the supposed leak is real or not. It’s just good internet drama for folks to chat about. Think about it. If the leak is right (or even close to accurate) great! The leaker gets another internet cookie for being right and folks got to talk about it for a while. And if they were wrong folks will still defend the idea. “It was just a good idea” or “well they were going to go that route but it go scrapped because of XYZ reason.” But it still doesn’t matter because it got folks talking about it.
At the end of the day, I think that’s all people really want and what they like about rumors in general. Everyone wants to act like they have inside information or that they are “in the know.” Which, sure, I get it. But just be cautious out there when it comes to real, actual rumors. And take them with a grain of salt.
*No, I’m not going to provide a link to the rumor. It’s really not that hard to find though.
Now can we get a new Rumor Engine from Games Workshop, please?!
