With the release of the second edition of Star Trek Adventures, we’re taking the opportunity to update first edition material we weren’t able to include in the second edition core rulebook or supplements. This month, we’re revisiting the early 2024 release The Federation-Klingon War Tactical Campaign, which was the last major supplement for the first edition.

If you missed picking up The Federation-Klingon War Tactical Campaign, let’s briefly review its contents. Chapter 1 provided a wealth of new material for the game, including six new character species options, additional talents and roles, discussions on wartime characters and the trauma of war, and a selection of new weapons and gear.
Chapter 2 presented advice on gamemastering the campaign included in the book, while Chapter 3 presented a complete tactical campaign ruleset that meshes with the 2d20 System and can be used with any era of play.
Chapters 4, 5, and 6 provide missions and mission briefs for the early war, mid-war, and late war periods, giving gamemasters and players an extended campaign experience that can be used in conjunction with the tactical campaign elements, or played separately.
Chapter 7 offers a wealth of Federation and Klingon starships, and Chapter 8 provides a wide selection of NPC descriptions and statistics for characters that might be encountered in the time period. The book closes with a short Appendix including sheets to support the tactical campaign as well as a safety checklist to be used at Session 0 and throughout the span of a campaign.
Nathan Dowdell, the 2d20 Systems Developer, revised the game components of this sourcebook that did not make it into a second edition supplement and compiled that information into a document. We now provide that document, for free!
