Dramatic times here as Storms Austen and Boelo tag team Edinburgh. Oh, just in case you hadn’t noticed, we’re in the 12 Masks of Halloween.

Mr Root

Today’s summary of RPG news summaries are:

  • Palladium Books have not renewed their TMNT license.
  • There’s no Necromunda TTRPG after all.
  • The Painted Wastelands are coming to 5e.
  • Chaosium pulled dozens of TTRPGs for the use of AI.
  • Sword World hits $2m in 24 hours of crowdfunding.

Okay, where are we with projects? At the start of the year, I said I was making a big list of TTRPG Publishers and assessing whether they’re still active, and I’m still doing this. It’s a huge manual task, and I’m a silly billy for starting it.

Geek Native covers many bundle deals, and I’ve started to keep a note of details in the Bundle of Holding, Fanatical and Humble. When I get to 100, then I might be able to offer some macro commentary. I think it’ll be interesting, useful, and no blooming AI will likely have thought to churn out those stats.

Speaking of AI, that disruptive technology was critical to finding a weakness in the language about 70% of the internet is written in. For one scary day, we didn’t know how bad it would be. Roll20 pulled down their DriveThruRPG and sibling sites to cope, but so did many governments. Geek Native stayed up; our hosts patched PHP, though we’re frustratingly behind on versions.
