Games Workshop is showing off the size of the Rogal Dorn compared to the other iconic tanks of the Astra Militarum. How does it stack up?

The Astra Militarum is getting a new Battle Tank with the arrival of the Rogal Dorn. It’s an impressive looking tank and ever since it’s debut folks have been wondering about it’s size. Well now we don’t have to guess anymore because Games Workshop just dropped a size comparison that should answer that question. Turns out it’s bigger than a Leman Russ and smaller than a Baneblade

“As you can see, it’s got a lot of guns – but just how chunky is it? And how does it stack up against the legendary Leman Russ? We parked them next to each other to find out, and even dragged a gigantic Baneblade out of the garage to really set the scale in order.”

Rogal Dorn Size Comparison

Well there you have it! The Rogal Dorn slots in perfectly between the Leman Russ and the Baneblade. I also appreciate the new Astra Militarum Guardsman there for scale. But that’s not the only way the Rogal Dorn compares. Games Workshop is also showcasing the the stats and how they’ve change for all of these vehicles.

These two tanks are really close to each other and you can see how the Rogal Dorn has the advantage in the stat department. I’d like to see the points to get a better comparison and also a list of all the available weapons and their respective points — but you get the idea.

There’s also a new weapon rule that’s going to apply to both of these tanks.

“…[the] new Turret Weapon rule* which allows tank turrets to target any enemies they want even while locked in melee, and also adds a nifty +1 to their hit roll as a bonus.”

Yikes — on both accounts! Either of these tank cannons is going to be dropping shells with authority! With that extra +1 to hit that should mean they are striking their targets at a 3+ in most cases. Oh and if you thought it was only the Main Battle Tanks that were getting some attention guess again. The Baneblade got a boost, too.

Let that stat-line sink in for a moment. Toughness 9 with 30 wounds and a 2+ armor save? That’s going to be one tough tank to chew on. Oh and it’s cheaper now, too!

“Your first two sponsons packing lascannons and twin heavy bolters are rolled into its base cost, making it significantly cheaper than before. And don’t worry – you can still add an extra two sponsons if 12 barrels of death weren’t enough. Those are now cheaper too!”

That rumbling you hear is all the tread-heads out there cheering. I hope you’re ready to face down the might of the Imperial Armor as it rolls down the tabletop!

It’s about to be TANKS-giving after all.
