The best War Dog unit in the Chaos Knight book – the War Dog Executioner solves most range problems Chaos Knight players can have! Here’s How.
It is amazing to think a few small tweaks to the Autocannon for the War Dog Executioner and you have a very sold little weapon. Going to AP -2 on a Flat 3 damage gun is huge especially if it covers the entire board. Everything is afraid of taking some high damage bullets and while the sample list isn’t utilize an Iconoclast Dreadblade upgrade – you can still use it in your army to even up the damage to 4 if needed.
War Dog Executioner Basics
It moves fast, is objective secured, and can shoot you across the table. These are the ultimate backfield friends to have hold your objectives. They can throw out some much needed damage, and be a pain in the butt for anything big. Do you see a huge Knight across the table? Throw out some long range damage you can hide behind a wall from. Those pesky Greater Daemons looking mean – throw out some pain. Dump the Mirror of Fates on him and try to bank up some CP too.
Efficient Bodies Make For an Efficient Army Choice
If you don’t Dreadblade these guys you can throw them in House Herpetrax and watch as they sit on more wounds and just continue to be an annoyance as they jump around walls and throw out some damage. This isn’t a dance my friend this is some long range murder that is waiting for you to make a mistake and stick your nose out too far.
Damage Output
Flat 3 damage is huge as we know how a lot of the game has gone to 3 wounds. Custodes, Possessed, Terminators, and even Chosen all sit at 3 wounds so any failure of a save is a full model dumped off of the table. Only the angry Blight Lords do not care. While they are a tough unit, they are not nearly as seen on the tabletops as they once were. Any big unit/monster/vehicle is scared of seeing flat 3 damage. Throw in a set of exploding 6’s and you start to get scared if your big monster is going to survive the onslaught of murder bullets.

Max DeBarr won a 72 player event across the pond with the following Dog Walker list. Abbie loves taking his dawgs out for a walk and the Executioner helps solve some long range/flat 3 damage problems that do show up from time to time.

War Dog Executioner Final Thoughts
This is one of the old “War Dog” units that is still good even if they are missing the whole slew of Keywords from the new kit. If you are looking at playing baby Knights you should make sure to have at least 2 to help keep your backfield safe and sound as the rest of your murder hobos run up the field and prepare to cause some trouble.
