Is that a new Lictor? Not quite. Meet the new Tyranid ambusher predator Von Ryan’s Leaper…if you can spot it before it too late.
There’s a new edition of Warhammer 40,000 coming and it’s not just the Marines that are getting some new toys. The Tyranids have evolved a new ambush predator and it’s been dubbed Von Ryan’s Leaper. This isn’t your typical Lictor!
“Von Ryan’s Leapers are swift, agile, and utterly lethal. When the time is right, they emerge to eviscerate their unfortunate enemies in a murderous fury. As ambush predators, they have much in common with Lictors, but rather than being lonewolves, these are pack-hunters. “
Von Ryan’s Leaper
The new Von Ryan’s Leaper is just one of the new organisms coming to the Tyranid line. An ambusher similar to the Lictor it hunts its prey stealthily and from the shadows. But unlike the Lictor, it’s not a solitary predator: It’s a pack-hunter!
That’s right, folks. Queue-up all your Jurassic Park “Clever Girl” references because the raptor’s are coming to play. From the images above we can see at least 3 different variations of Von Ryan’s Leapers. We’ll have to wait and see what special rules they get and what sorts of ambush bonuses they get. I’m betting they are going to get to avoid getting shot in some tricky was regardless.
We also don’t know why they have been dubbed Von Ryan’s Leaper either. I’m sure we’ll get that tidbit later on. For now, the lictor has some competition in the sneaky-sneaky department. I wonder if that means Deathleaper is going to get some friends he can run around with now…
