The Tomb of Dracula Terrain Pack for Marvel: Crisis Protocol is in the house and we’ve got it unbox, built, and ready for it’s close-up!

The Marvel Monsters are coming and with them a new Terrain Pack is on the way. This is the Tomb of Dracula and Atomic Mass Games sent me a copy to review. I’m really excited about this piece more because I really want to use it as a display for the Marvel Monsters themselves.

But I was also a bit curious about it compared to some of the other kits. Specifically the Rival Panels. I did one for the Wakanda Battle for the Throne and was a little surprised there was basically no back. So how did this one stack up? Let’s get in there and find out!

Tomb of Dracula Terrain Pack Unboxing

Kicking things off, this is a BIG kit. As you can see the baggies with the sprues are quite large and with good reason: there’s a lot of plastic in this kit to manage. You also get the One-Shot cards, too. More on those below.

There is a set of 5 sprues plus the “base” of this terrain feature. It’s on par with something like the NYC Apartment Building or Sanctum Sanctorum. And yes, these sprues are fully sculpted from all sides…

The base was a little weird to me at first. But once I assembled the “miniature” it made sense. Also, I was a little disappointed there weren’t “cut outs” for the bases for the Marvel Monsters to slide into. We’ve seen AMG do that for Apocalypse, Thanos, and a few of the Rivals Panels. However, this really is a “Terrain Kit” as opposed to a Rival Panel or specific miniature.

What I did find interesting is that you can actually find the places on this miniature where the Marvel Monster’s bases would line-up perfectly. And yes, we do have that kit which we’ll be covering later this week.

Anyhow, the plastic itself is the harder terrain plastic and it’s good stuff in terms of stability and durability. I did have a few bits break in shipping but at least they were still in the bag. The details on this kit overall are very good. I’m thinking of painting it with some basic grey primer and drybrushing for the stone. The other details will get more attention but the majority of this terrain feature should pick-up that drybrushing nicely.

One-Shot Cards

Here’s a look at the One-Shot cards. There are two of them in the kit. One is Darkness Falls and the other is Hunter Seeks Vengeance. Darkness Falls essentially gives everyone stealth for the game and makes this one a much more up close fight. Hunter Seeks Vengeance basically gives the player who’s NOT running Dracula a “free” Threat 3 character to use. The down side is Dracula can just one-shot them from the table if he’s got the energy to do it. I’m not sure how I feel about this one because the Vampire Hunter also has to advance towards Dracula the whole time. It seems like a good distraction at least.

Tomb of Dracula Assembled…Sorta

Now, as far as assembly I did NOT fully glue this kit together. I think if you do that before you paint it you’re going to have a tough time getting into all the nooks and crannies. So, if you see gaps and spaces in the photos that’s why. Instead, I did build up sub-assemblies and dry fit the large sections together. I wouldn’t recommend playing on this terrain feature in this state but it was at least stable enough for photos.

Here’s the full on front shot. As you can see, it’s a LARGE kit. I did want to call out the coffin of Dracula as well. It can be built as either the big slab or an altar if you prefer. But it’s one or the other — not both.

I really like how tall and intricate this looks, too. The spiral stair case is a great way to add a creep factor — like a good ole monster movie should. I also like all the torn banners and the dilapidated nature of this tower. It’s certainly an eye-catcher!

Here’s a top down-shot. And again, I really wish they had the inserts for the Marvel Monsters to slot in there. There’s some pretty obvious spots for them.

And finally, here’s a shot of the back of the building. It IS a 360° miniature, so YES, this does have a back and it’s fully sculpted. Again, it’s not glued together all the way which is why there’s a gap in the back and the window. I’m a little freaked out by trying to paint a stained-glass window. So…wish me luck with that.

The Tomb of Dracula Terrain Pack is due out November 1, 2024 and it’s currently available for pre-order.

Marvel: Crisis Protocol – Tomb of Dracula Terrain Pack $119.99

The immortal monster known as Dracula has plagued humanity for centuries. A being of terror and evil Dracula wields the unholy powers of vampirism as well as dark magic in his never ending quest to bring all the living beneath his thrall. Brought together through chance, these supernatural creatures share a common purpose: the protection and defense of their kind against both natural and unnatural threats. While they may be viewed as villains by most of humanity, this group which includes the ferocious Werewolf by Night, N’Kantu the Living Mummy, and Frankenstein’s Monster has saved those who hate and fear them many times, as they use their supernatural powers to stand against mortal and immortal dangers that lurk in the night.

Of course Dracula has a fancy tomb. It’s basically his bedroom!
