The ThunderCats Roleplaying Game is Here! from Dynamite Entertainment
- END DATE: Fri, January 16 2026 6:00 PM EST.
- CROWDFUNDING ON: Kickstarter
- SYSTEM(S): Dungeons & Dragons Fifth Edition
- PROJECT TYPE: Core rulebook
- MOST POPULAR PLEDGE: $50 + S/H for the PDF and print versions of the book
- WHY SPOTLIGHT THIS CAMPAIGN? Are you a fan of the ThunderCats TV series (1985 to 1989, reimagined in 2011 to 2012, and turned into ThunderCats Roar in 2020)? If so, the ThunderCats are back as a comic book series (2024 to present) from Dynamite Entertainment, which leads to this project, The ThunderCats Roleplaying Game. Designed by Lynnvander Studios and published by Dynamite, this 240-page core rulebook uses the 2024 version of 5e to tells of the survivors of Thundara and the citizens of Third Earth. Want to play as a ThunderCat, a Mu’tant, or another character from Third Earth or beyond, this book gives you the rules for that and new subclasses specific to this setting. For my part, I’m interested in stats for the variety of bad guys and technology from this setting, the Berserkers and vehicles like the ThunderTank will be fun additions to 5e. The worldbuilding and setting are a blend of the cartoon and comic continuities, which I assume means the 1980s series and the various comic books it inspired. The source of the setting material is critical for fans since not every incarnation of these characters is every fans cup of tea. If you’re a fan of the original ThunderCats, this project is worth a review on Kickstarter.
Toon the Cartoon Roleplaying Game Second Edition from Steve Jackson Games
- END DATE: Jan 15, 2026 at 3:00pm EST.
- CROWDFUNDING ON: Backerkit
- SYSTEM(S): Toon 2e
- PROJECT TYPE: Core rulebook
- MOST POPULAR PLEDGE: $35 + S/H for the PDF and softcover of the book
- WHY SPOTLIGHT THIS CAMPAIGN? In 1984, Steve Jackson recreate the Looney Tunes and Looney Tunes adjacent era of cartoons for your tabletop. In 2025, he’s crowdfunding the second edition of the ruleset a light 41 years later. The gap of time between the 1st and 2nd editions of the game is so long it adds to the humor of the series. But this is a serious endeavor. This project could have been a legacy reprint and probably scored just as much funding with less effort. Instead, SJG felt that they have something new to say and are creating a new version of the game with improved tables, mechanics, layouts, and more. I’m not saying that they shouldn’t do a new edition, quite the opposite. A second edition requires real work and offers a new experience for gamers, even veterans of the original. Do you want to play as a cartoon character being as wacky as possible? Then try out Toon 2e on Backerkit.
Tomb of the Ancient Moor King from Orange Cat Games
- END DATE: Tue, January 20 2026 10:02 AM EST.
- CROWDFUNDING ON: Kickstarter
- SYSTEM(S): OSR
- PROJECT TYPE: Adventure
- MOST POPULAR PLEDGE: $30 + S/H for the PDF and print versions of book
- WHY SPOTLIGHT THIS CAMPAIGN? An old bard offers your party the path to an ancient tomb, he just asks one thing in return, which is not disclosed on the campaign pitch page. The campaign page doesn’t say what the one thing he wants in return is, but if you’re from the all-bards-seduce-everything crowd… Well, I wish the page said what the bard is asking for, just to be on the safe side. (Wink, wink) This OSR adventure is for levels 4 to 6 and, if the stretch goals are unlocked, will be available for other systems. If you’re a fan of a tomb crawl and bards, this Kickstarter may be playing your song.
