WizKids has announced Dungeons & Dragons:  Edge of the Realms – Fields of Faerun, a new map-building game designed by Phil Walker-Harding (Barenpark, Gizmos, Imhotep) set to release in June.

In Dungeons & Dragons:  Edge of the Realms – Fields of Faerun, players become explorers of the fabled continent of Faerun, the world of the Dungeons & Dragons Forgotten Realms setting.  Players will draw and play map cards to construct their own individual maps, trying to complete quests by connecting terrain and revealing landmarks and cities.  The game uses a card-drafting mechanic that is designed to support simultaneous play so there is no downtime between turns.  After 15 rounds of cardplay and drafting, the player who is able to score the most points from their quests wins the game.

The game features artwork by Gerralt Landman (The Guild of Merchant Explorers) and includes 139 cards, 50 cubes, 4 tokens, and 5 pawns plus a score pad.  It is intended for 2 to 4 players, ages 12 and up, and plays in about half an hour.  MSRP is $24.99.
