The latest set from Magic: the Gathering is almost here, and it’s bringing the game’s biggest shakeup since Commander.

Welcome in, Praetors and Planeswalkers! 2024 has been a banner year for Magic: the Gathering fans. We’ve had some incredible set releases, a Marvel Secret Lair, and the dawn of a brand new narrative within the Magic Multiverse. Looking to end the year with a bang, Wizards of the Coast is releasing perhaps its best set of the year: Foundations.

The Planeswalkers of Foundations

From powerful reprints and new additions to a change in “how” cards will interact with the different formats, “Foundations” is setting the stage for a new era of Magic. Fans were a bit divided when the release and new rules were announced at MagicCon: Las Vegas. Still, I think it’s overall a plus for the community. Whatever your feelings, there’s no denying this is going to be a big step in the future of the Multiverse and the game.

MSRP Standard Returns

A few of the cool cats coming to Foundations

One of the best things that Foundations is beginning is a return to an MSRP standard for products. While there has been an arbitrary “standard” for product prices already, WotC is setting their prices ahead of time. This is in response to the secondary market setting prices in some cases, and a hope to return to a more mediated market value.

“Foundations” will have a lower standard MSRP, as it is targeted at new players. The upcoming “Innistrad Remastered” set will have a slightly higher price point. For the most part, though, a standard price will apply across all releases. This makes it easier for LGSs to set their prices and appeal to their customers.

Foundations is a Perfect Start

Foundations is one of the best ways to jump into Magic: the Gathering! The starter products are designed to help you build a powerful deck, learn the ins and outs of deckbuilding, and properly prepare for the Standard and Modern landscape.

Best of all, all the cards included in the starter set will be Standard legal until at least 2029. That means they’ll hold out in value for a while. If you want to try Commander instead of the 60-card formats, there’s also a Command Tower, Arcane Signet, and Sol Ring in the starter box to get you off on the right foot.

Foundations will be available everywhere on November 15th. You can also pre-order below.

Will you be jumping into the new set?
