Vermintide 2‘s Versus Mode invites 4v4 PvP chaos (but not Chaos) to the Old World as you take on the ultimate foe: your friends.
There is no substitute for the human touch. This is true in whatever field you look at. From art to programming to video game opponents. Sure. Bots are cool and all. But we all know the real test of skill is fighting against another human.
That’s why PvP is so popular. And why so many people ragequit their favorite games forever, when they learn that they weren’t good enough to hang the devs didn’t properly balance PvP combat. Vermintide 2 steps into that arena with its new Versus mode.
And it’s real fun, too. Vermitide 2 versus Mode has all the chaotic appeal of ruining someone’s day in Dark Souls with a whole new reward structure and everything.
Vermintide 2 Versus Mode – 4v4 Me Bro
In Vermintide 2 Versus Mode, two teams of four players will face each other down. They’ll take turns playing the Five Heroes as well as the Pactsworn, so your gameplay will shift dynamically. The right Skaven Pactsworn vs. the wrong Hero (or vice versa) can make all the difference.
But it’s more than just updated gameplay. Many of the Vermintide 2 maps have been reimagined for PvP as well. So you can see your old familiar stomping grounds from a new perspective, which ought to help keep things fresh.
Besides the new maps, there’s a whole new progression system specifically designed for Versus mode. So you can find a whole new rabbit hole to fall down. I think it’s an amazing testament to the game that, here in 2024, there’s still new depth to plumb.
Vermintide 2 truly is one of the great horde-slaying games. It takes a classic formula and executes it really well. And while, sadly, the extreme Steam sale is no longer on, you probably already have Vermintide 2. If not, don’t worry, you can still save as part of the Warhammer Tide-Collection, which gathers together Vermintides 1&2 and Darktide.
Verminetide 2 Versus Mode is out now – get out there and slay your friends!
