The upcoming Universal Fan Fest Nights event will feature a massive Xanathar puppet for its immersive Dungeons & Dragons experience. Later this spring, Universal Studios Hollywood will launch a series of Universal Fan Fest Nights featuring various experiences and sets tied to various franchises like Dungeons & Dragons, Star Trek, and One Piece. We previously knew that the D&D experience would be an immersive event where attendees assist the Harpers with dealing with Xanathar the beholder, but now we have some more details about how the infamous beholder will appear at the theme park.

A casting call posted by Universal Studios Hollywood is seeking a performer to play Xanathar, the Beholder. The blackout role requires its performer to operate a “push/pull articulated creature” with both hands from a standing position and push and pull up to 30 pounds of suspended weight at a time. The casting call also reveals that the D&D experience will run for about 45 minutes and that the cast performs approximately 7 times per night.

The Universal Fan Fest Nights is a new theme park concept that launches this spring and features several Hollywood franchises taking over a portion of the park. The Star Trek portion of the event, for instance, includes the Enterprise-D bridge set piece from Star Trek: Picard, while the Harry Potter component includes a Niffler encounter. The after-hours event will take place on select dates in April and May.
