The Slaanesh Daemons are hooking-up with the Emperor’s Children thanks to a new Detachment. Visit the Carnival of Excess at your own peril.
Games Workshop is shifting things around for the Emperor’s Children and their Daemon allies. You’ll be able to take a mixed force of Chaos Marines and Slaanesh Daemons thanks to the Carnival of Excess Detachment. But how will this work? Let’s dive in to find out.
“The big draw of this new Detachment is being able to fill half of your army with daemons, despite them having different Faction keywords. Better still, the new Codex: Emperor’s Children contains full datasheets for all of the daemons you’ll need: Daemonettes, Fiends, Seekers, the Keeper of Secrets and Shalaxi Helbane.”
Carnival of Excess
As you can see above the Legions of Excess can be included by using this Detachment. Based on the type of game you can include limited amount of points — half of the total army.
We’ve also got a look a the special rule which is Daemonic Empowerment. This is a good rule for really pushing that whole “combined arms” feel for the army. You’re encouraged and rewarded for having your Daemons near your Chaos Marines as both benefit. Gaining Sustained Hits 1 and/or getting a crit hit on a 5+ sounds good to me!
Just like other Detachments the Carnival of Excess has it’s own set of enhancements and stratagems to go around.
Above are just two examples. Possessed Blade not only seems thematic for this army in particular, but also gives the wielder some nice boosts to melee. Warp Walker seems like a great way to get around the tabletop and plays nice with the Army rules we saw yesterday.
We also have some stratagem previews as well. Again, the focus here is having both the Emperor’s Children and the Legions of Excess near each other.
So if you’re looking to run the Emperor’s Children with some Daemonic Allies this is going to be the way to do that moving forward. It’s time to load-up on the Daemonettes and maybe a Keeper of Secrets. Get ready to give your opponent’s a one-two combo right in the feels!
Would you want to run a mix of Daemons of Chaos Marines for an Emperor’s Children army?
