This week’s article features TTRPG crowdfunding projects that end between March 12 to 19. This list is the definition of a sampler as the number of available projects is near an all time high. Most of that is ZineQuest during ZineMonth, discussed below, but there are a variety of full games, adventures, and sourcebooks to consider including major releases from Magpie Games, Monte Cook Games, Inkwell Ideas, Midnight Tower, and more.
Fallen London: The Roleplaying Game from Magpie Games
- END DATE: Thu, March 13 2025 4:00 PM EDT.
- SYSTEM(S): “A new unique system called Ædana developed by Magpie Games”
- PROJECT TYPE: Core rulebook
- MOST POPULAR PLEDGE: $149 + S/H for the PDF and print versions of the core rulebook and supplement as well as dice, GM screen, and more
- WHY SPOTLIGHT THIS CAMPAIGN? This officially-licensed RPG takes the setting from Failbetter’s video games Sunless Sea, Sunless Skies, Mask of the Rose, and Fallen London and brings it to tabletop. It’s 1899, London fell into a vast cavern, and the world is nothing like it was above. There are many kingdoms in this under land where death is not permanent and strange types of beings are citizens of the city. Using an original system, which you can sample through the link to the free quickstart on the campaign page, you’ll deal with mysteries in a different, unique society. If you’re a fan of Failbetter’s games and detailed, well-developed Victorian-era fantasy settings, this game may be for you.

RPG Zine Month Selections
February and RPG Zine Month end soon. You can find lists of crowdfunding RPG zine booklets at Kickstarter’sZineQuest and Backerkit’s ZineMonth. Among the offerings, I want to shout out the one that interviewed me: Quest for Zines: a Zine Quest Zine About Zines by Philip Reed ends on February 28. In addition, there are a few more fun options:
- Kal-Arath: Twin Sun Sutra from Castle Grief ends on March 14. This zine takes the OSR and expands on it with new modes of play, random tables, and a comic. Using a classless 2D6 system that draws from OSRs, this zine may be fun for fans of original sword and sorcery systems.
- Neon City Blues from Eric Brunsell ends on March 5. Dwelling deep in the cyberpunk genre, this game uses the cozy murder mystery engine, Carved from Brindlewood. I’m curious to see a cyberpunk game that deals in that type of mysteries.
- In Dreaming Avalon: a Roleplaying Party Game from lumpley games ends on March 3. From the creator of the Powered by the Apocalypse system, this game is a lighthearted romantic party game that blends the Knights of King Arthur and the fairies of William Shakespeare to create something fresh. Using scene-length mini-games, you’ll tell the tale of a night spent adventuring.
- CATCH ME IF YOU CANT: The Secret Language of Thieves… from Gametee ends on March 15. Gametee is bringing back an old school idea, Thieves’ Cant, the language of D&D Thieves. Get the history of the language, a dictionary along with a breakdown of symbols, ideas for grifts and cons, and more. If want to elevate your thief, this might be worth a read.
- Dungeon Bookmarks from Øone Games ends on March 4. Do you love old school blue dungeon maps? Do you love bookmarks? This campaign combines the two to produce 48 double-sided bookmarks to inspire adventures or hold your place in a book. One side is the map, the other are notes. If you love maps and marks, this is for you.
