Roll20 and Demiplane have joined forces, and the cross-platform Public Alpha has proved fruitful, according to a recent update.
In other virtual tabletop news, Demiplane and Roll20, two VTT giants, have an update on the progress of their Public Alpha test of a cross-platform rollout that allows users of Roll20 to sync accounts with Demiplane. Being able to sync your account with a Demiplane nexus sounds like something you’d do in a sci-fantasy game. The sort of game where you run a reality decompiler to counter some kind of spell matrix.
At any rate, the Alpha has proved fruitful and helps bth Roll20 and Demiplane lay out a roadmap to the upcoming Public Beta, slated for later this year. With an eye towards improving character creation, and new features rolling out later this week, it seems there’s still more to come for the Public Alpha.
Roll20 and Demiplane Public Alpha Followup
Not long ago, Roll20 acquired Demiplane. Earlier this year, the Public Alpha for the Demiplane-Roll20 integration rolled out. The end goal is letting users buy content on one platform and have it sync to the other, so you don’t have to buy the same thing twice to use both sites. After three different live sessions, countless forum feedback posts, and more, Roll20 posted an update on how that’s going today, starting with an announcement that the cross-platform support is expanding.
Users can access all Starfinder and Pathfinder titles available on both platforms, as well as the Marvel Multiverse RPG core rulebook, Cyberpunk RED: Hope Reborn, the ALIEN RPG, and Vampire: the Masquerade, 5th Edition. Later this week, Roll20 and Demiplane will add the Fallout RPG’s core rulebook to the mix when the Fallout Nexus launches on Demiplane later this week.
As you might well expect, this is just the initial wave. The Roll20/Demiplane team-up isn’t even out of Alpha yet. But they have learned much, it seems. Starfinder 2E is the first big game to have a Demiplane character sheet that can link to a Roll20 game. A big reason for this, according to Roll20, is that they didn’t have a native Roll20 character sheet. Launching the Demiplane sheet was a chance to test the experience without disrupting the Alpha. The other cross-platform titles will be launching their own sheets as part of the upcoming Beta
So far it sounds like they are focusing on Character Sheets pretty heavily for the next phase of updates. Everything else, like NPC integration and GM support will have to wait for the Beta or beyond. But you can get a look at what they have planned right here.
The Roll20/Demiplane Public Beta is scheduled for later this year!
