Just like that, you can marry Astarion in Stardew all over again, as WotC reverses the DMCA takedown of the popular Baldur’s Village mod.
The popular Stardew Valley mod, Baldur’s Village, is back online once more after WotC reversed a DMCA notice with host Nexusmods. As Larian CE Swen Vincke said yesterday, speaking out in support of the mod, “There are good ways of dealing with this.” And WotC has opted to use some of those good ways of doing so.
The company issued an apology, and not long after, the mod was restored and is in good working order. Meaning, you can once again download Baldur’s Village and romance Astarin and Shadowheart to your heart’s content.
Baldur’s Village DMCA Reversed

WotC’s statement is as follows:
“The Baldur’s Village DMCA takedown was issued mistakenly – we are sorry about that. We are in the process of fixing that now so fans and the Stardew community can continue to enjoy this great mod!”
And while their quick action in reversing the notice is appreciated by the community, many are wondering at it’s necessity in the first place. There was a similar outcry in 2024, when D&D YouTubers were hit with DMCA notices for covering the new Player’s Handbook, only again, for those DMCA notices to be reversed.

As WotC has said, the notice was “issued mistakenly,” which raises the question of whose mistake it was. Was it the actions of a third-party “IP watchdog” group? How might WotC prevent such things from happening for future mods/fan-created content? Still, the decision has been reversed, and the mod is back up. Thankfully, the mod was popular enough that community outcry ensured swift action in this case.
Stardew Valley is soon to be rife with vampires and clerics once again!
