Free League’s Symbaroum lands on D&D Beyond with a 5E adaptation of the dark fantasy setting. If you’re unfamiliar, Symbaroum is a world with ancient forests, forgotten ruins, and an Eternal Night that threatens to swallow everything. You play people who venture into the dark forest to delve the ruins to try and survive. Adventure, right?
Ruins of Symbaroum: Setting Handbook on D&D Beyond
And yesterday, the Ruins of Symbaroum: Setting Handbook arrived on D&D Beyond. Which means you can dive feet first into the world of Symbaroum for your games of 5E. Find out what makes humans and goblins and ogres and elves unique in this world.
GMs, especially, will enjoy the book and its advice on building out ruins and other locations of mystery. Free League has done a fantastic job of giving its readers the tools they need to make the world their own, while still keeping the tone dark and imposing.
“Open the doors to the beloved and critically acclaimed game world of Symbaroum—a deeper, darker, and deadlier setting where unforgettable adventures are waiting behind every crest and bend.
The Ruins of Symbaroum: Setting Handbook offers an in-depth exploration of the rich lore, locations, and history of this world. Players can utilize 16 different maps in Maps VTT on D&D Beyond to build their own encounters and stories.”
The setting guide is full of all the tools you need to start running the game in Symbaroum’s dark world. You’ll find locations, lore, adventure seeds—and you’ll also find tools and guidelines for making your own custom adventures that feel like they fit right in. It’s a grim place, and you’ll want to match the vibe.
It also comes with some player facing advice on making sure the PCs match the setting and the tone. Although if you really want to dive headlong into the world, you might want to check out the Ruins of Symbaroum Player’s Guide, which isn’t on D&D Beyond (yet) but is available from Free League’s online store.
