Atomic Mass Games is showing off The Warriors of Asgard Affiliation Pack. Time to call in the Bifrost and see where the rainbow takes us!
It’s fitting that the Asgardians are getting another Affiliation Pack. While they might not have kicked off the concept of the new style Affiliation packs the Asgardians did help usher in this newer era for Marvel: Crisis Protocol. Regardless, today we’re taking a closer look at this new pack and also how you can grow your Asgardians into a real roster.
The Warriors of Asgard Affiliation Pack
“The realm eternal calls. The Warriors of Asgard Affiliation Pack brings Angela, Enchantress, Heimdall, and Skurge together in one mighty box for Marvel: Crisis Protocol. With powerful abilities and a rich mix of battlefield roles, these iconic champions are ready to defend, or conquer. Coming soon!”
As you can see from the text and photo we’re getting a fairly diverse cast of Asgardians here. I know that Angela and Enchantress in particular has been a tough character pack to track down for a while due to the reissue status of things. So it’s nice to see them both included.
We’ve had Heimdall and Skurge together in their previous pack, too. Considering how tied Skurge’s team tactic card is to having Enchantress around this pack is makes a lot of sense. That said, let’s do what we typically do and figure out how much Threat Level we’re getting.
Angela – 5
Enchantress – 4
Heimdall – 3
Skurge – 3
Total Threat: 15
That’s certainly a good start. It’s also worth noting that Angela and Heimdall in particular just got updated cards. Both characters are worth re-examining if you haven’t used them in a while. Having said all that this pack is missing a leader. So let’s get into adding to these characters to fill a Roster!
Calling All Asgardians
Kicking things off I think is the most obvious option. The overly long-titled Mighty Thor, Lady Sif, Thor, Hero of Midgard, & Loki, Prince of Lies Character Pack. I’m just going to refer to it as the Asgardian Pack from here on out. It should be pretty obvious why you want to snag this pack to go with The Asgardian Warrior pack. This box actually comes with two of the Asgardian leaders in it. You get Mighty Thor and also Loki, Prince of Lies.
Since you kind of want to run a character with a Leadership ability the above pack will give you options. However, we’re technically still 2 characters shy of a full 10-character roster. So what do we do?
This is where things can get a little awkward for new players. Technically, there’s only a couple other characters you could include for Asgardians in the Roster. That’s because of how alter egos work in the game. So, for example, we can’t just add in Thor, Prince of Asgard or Loki, God of Mischief because we already have those two. Unfortunately, those character packs also include characters that would fit the bill with Valkyrie and Hela, Queen of Hel in those packs, respectively.
There’s also the option of snagging the Beta Ray Bill and Ulik box. Technically Ulik isn’t a part of the Affiliation but you can still include him. Again, this is kind of the problem with running the Asgardians right now. If you go real heavy into them for your roster you don’t have a ton of options for splashing into other Affiliations for cross-over team building.
Again, this is an awkward Affiliation to collect right now. Many of these other packs you’d need to build a full Asgardian Roster are actually kind of hard to find. That’s why we’re all hoping AMG get’s these re-issues out sooner rather than later.
Another Affiliation Option?
If you are wanting to run the Asgardian Affiliation but can’t seem to find the other packs, there’s really no reason you can’t just dip into whatever collection you have to round out the roster. For example, if you have the Earth’s Mightiest Core set adding characters like Cap, Iron Man, or Spidey might not be the most efficient option for the Asgardian Affiliation. However, you can’t tell me having Avengers team up with Thor and Friends isn’t thematic.
That said, it’s worth mentioning that Enchantress, Skurge, Loki, God of Mischief, and Ulik are all members of the Cabal. If you wanted to get more creative that might be an Affiliation worth checking out later. Again, with the Earth’s Mightiest set you also have access to some baddies that are part of Cabal, too.
So, if you wanted to, you could go the other route and run a Cabal-heavy list but splash in some Asgardians to flex into. I’m not 100% sure if it would be good for tournament play but it is possible. Remember, to use an Affiliation (and thus the leadership) more than half of the characters must share the same Squad Affiliation.

And if you’re new to Marvel: Crisis Protocol remember that your Squad is made up from characters you have included in your Roster. The Roster is the total 10-character list you bring. The Squad is made from your Roster and is selected after you’ve picked the mission. Squad selection is based off the Threat Level you use and thus use waaaay less than the 10-characters you have in the Roster.
At the end of the day, these Affiliation Packs are great for new players to jump in with. But just be very mindful that (currently) running an all Asgardian Roster might be tougher due to finding all the character packs you need. If you are a new player I’d recommend running either Avengers or Cabal and splashing in some of the other Asgardians for now. Once the reissues are all out, it should be much easier to collect a full Asgardian Roster.
