Halo: Flashpoint is getting the Rise of the Banished expansion and along with that the Defiance booklet. It’s time for the Banished to shine!

New rules, new points, more units, and new game modes?! All that and more can be found in the upcoming Defiance expansion booklet. Let’s get into what you can expect within the Rise of the Banished boxed set and this booklet!

“Defiance is to the Banished Jiralhanae what War Games was for the UNSC Spartans (& Sangheili Mercenaries) – and brings all those lovely Brute miniatures into the realm of points-building and custom fireteams from day one.

But it’s also MUCH more than that. Each of these booklets is the next phase of the game that any serious player will want.”

The Defiance Booklet

First up, this book has all the points and info for using the new Jiralhanae units. We actually covered them previously. So if you wanted to run these huge new units you’ll want to get your hands on Defiance. The good news is that if you’re getting Rise of the Banished, you’re getting his book included.

The booklet also comes with new extra scenarios to try out. One of them is the VIP mission. You and you’re opponent both pick a character to protect. And, well, you can imagine how wonky this game mode can get!

Another one that I’m really excited about is the arrival of BTB! Or Big Team Battles if you’re a Halo noob. This was always a crazy and hectic mode in the video game and now it’s coming to the tabletop. There are a couple of key differences with this mode. While you’ll get to deploy more miniatures/units you’re also going to have some new limitations.

This suddenly changes the vibes of Halo: Flashpoint quite a bit. You’re no longer training to fight in the war, the WAR is here with BTB!

What About The Elites?

The final note I wanted to put in here was a quick word about the Sangheili Mercenaries, also known as the Elites. Mantic wanted to clear something up that’s been brewing online:

“…the Sangheili Mercenaries are absolutely part of the Banished faction. Following the Great Schism entire Keeps pledged themselves to the Banished cause, fighting alongside the Jiralhanae as seasoned mercenaries. However you’ll find that in respect of both theme and balance, some special orders may only be usable by one or the other – even within mixed fireteams.”

So there you have it! If you’re running the Banished you can 100% count on the Elites in your fireteams.

You can score a copy of the Defiance booklet separate from the Rise of the Banished box but that will be later. There will be PDFs for purchase online and it will first be available in the Rise of the Banished. If you’re a Halo Flashpoint App subscriber then the new game content will also be added to your account, too.

Here come the Banished and the Elites!
