Asmodee announced that it had snapped up the Zombicide IP from CMON on June 10, 2025.
Embattled CMON continues to sell off its IPs after they had announced a halt to development of future games and a round of layoffs (see “Halted“). Tabletop Tycoon took a chunk out of the CMON portfolio recently, bringing five Eric M. Lang board games under their umbrella (see “Five Board Games from CMON“). Next, it was Asmodee’s turn, and almost as expected, they went after the crown jewel of the CMON brand, Zombicide.
Zombicide board games have over 2 million copies worldwide since it first debuted in the fall of 2012 (see “‘Zombicide’“). More recently, Zombicide had been experiencing a second age in popularity thanks to Zombicide games featuring popular IPs like the Marvel Zombies, DCeased, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, and even Monty Python’s Flying Circus (see “‘Monty Python’s Flying Circus – Zombicide 2E’“).
“We are proud the iconic Zombicide IP further strengthens our tabletop games portfolio and allows us to reinforce our presence in key geographies,” said Thomas Koegler of asmodee. “I can’t wait for the team to get to work at what’s coming next for this fantastic IP.”
This acquisition is a major move that helps along asmodee’s M&A strategy as they continue their rebrand to become more consumer-facing company (see “Asmodee Refreshes“).
