The Sea Wardens of Cothique are among the best sailors in all of Ulthuan. They have to be, to stand up to the Corsairs and worse.
If you thought there were enough books about High Elves in Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay, you thought wrong, friend. High Elves are second only to the Empire in terms of popularity, for better or worse. This is both with fans and with the creators – nobody can seem to get enough of the big immortal elves who wear pointy helmets but, crucially, don’t have pointy heads. We can’t stress enough that their heads are normal – only the ears are pointy, not the skulls within the glorious helmets. And you can read all about that, as well as the oceans around Ulthuan, in an upcoming new book: The Sea Wardens of Cothique.
Sea Wardens of Cothique – Coming Soon From Cubicle 7
So, who are the Sea Wardens of Cothique, and why do they get their own book? Cothique is a coastal realm and is one of the ten kingdoms of Ulthuan. It’s where the waters are cold, the winds are colder, and the rocks are sharp enough to break your hopes and dreams as well as your bones when you go plummeting to the depths below. No wonder its inhabitants spend a lot of time sailing, wandering away from their homeland.
But, in true Warhammer fashion, those wanderings of the turbulent northern waters mean they are often plagued by sea monsters. Krakens. Megalodons. Behemoths. Even the Black Leviathan. You’ll find enough monsters for a wizened old man to rant and rave easily ignored warnings about for a fortnight.
And that mens that the Sea Wardens of Cothique are especially adept at sailing. Like all High Elves, they are the best at what they do, and in this case it’s sailing the sea in alabaster war-catamarans loaded down with Elven ballistae so they can fight sea monsters and also Dark Elf Corsairs.
“A Guide to the inhaitants of the maritime kingdom of Cothique, and the port of Tor Koruali. We’re thrilled to reveal the cover af the upcoming Sea Wardens of Cothique for Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay!
This brilliant piece by artist Alvaro Jimenez Hernandez showst he renowned High Elves characters in action. The many shrines and palaces of Cothique overlook the northern coast of Ulthuan. There’s no official release date yet – but the book will be up for pre-order “soon.” Which probably means sometime in the next few weeks, with an actual release more towards the end summer/mid-fall, if I had to guess. Keep an eye out for more from Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay.
Sail the northern sea, kill monsters, what’s not to love?!
