June has been a busy month for comings and goings in the games industry, and it’s time for a special round-up edition of People on the Move.
Jeremy Crawford and Chris Perkins both have a new gig. The duo led the Dungeons & Dragons design team for decades, Crawford as D&D’s Lead Designer and Perkins as D&D’s Creative Director, until recently when they both left Wizards of the Coast (see “Jeremy Crawford Steps Down“). One of the biggest questions in the games industry was where would these two highly-talented individuals would eventually land?
The answer came on June 16, 2025 when Critical CEO Travis Willingham announced that he had hired the pair to work at Darrington Press, Critical Role Productions’ games publishing division. The hiring plays into Critical Role’s continued expansion of their company beyond the web series’ production, which has included a further expansion into producing original RPG products (see “Darrington’s ‘Daggerheart’ Revealed“).
In other WotC-related news, Jess Lanzillo has left her job as the company’s Vice President of Franchise and Product for D&D. Lanzillo started at WotC as the Worldbuilding Design Manager for Magic: The Gathering R&D and worked her way up through the company, holding various executive positions including Chief of Staff and Vice President of Creative for Magic: The Gathering.
Asmodee has been making some important moves as well. They have just hired David Preti, the former COO of CMON. Preti spent over eight years at CMON, rising from the Creative Director to COO. As COO, he helped strike the deal with Asmodee to exclusively distribute CMON’s English language games worldwide (see “Deal with Asmodee NA“).At Asmodee, Pretti will become the Head of Crowdfunding Strategy and Miniatures Lines.
Preti’s new title is incredibly interesting, for a couple of reasons. For one, Asmodee hasn’t done much in the way of crowdfunding, even via its studios. Asmodee has had tie-ins with crowdfunding campaigns, such as Altered TCG where Gamegenic created the playmats and sleeves for Equinox, but to date, the only Asmodee studio that has run a crowdfunding campaign is Lookout Games for a Grand Austria Hotel expansion. This hire signals a pivot funding strategy for Asmodee, likely spurred on by their purchase of the Zombicide IP (see “Asmodee Snaps Up ‘Zombicide’ “), which has been a Kickstarter-funding superstar over the years.
Secondly, his new job title also indicates that he will be the head of Asmodee’s miniatures lines. This would indicate that Atomic Mass Games may fall under his auspices, as AMG is Asmodee’s studio arm for miniatures lines.
Asmodee also recently promoted Krystal Rose. She started at Asmodee as the Marketing Manager for Office Dog and Z-Man Games, and has now become a Senior Marketing Manager for those two companies. As part of her new duties, Asmodee has added Unexpected Games to the list of companies that Rose will be running marketing for.
