Marvel: Crisis Protocol is missing a golden opportunity to bring on these characters from the Mojoverse to the tabletop!

Atomic Mass Games dropped the fun and interesting side-game of Mojoball in to Marvel: Crisis Protocol. It’s a little like American football and a little like rugby.

The excuse for having your characters playing Mojoball is because of, well, Mojo! If you’re not familiar with him, don’t worry we’re going to touch all that subject as well as a few other characters that are related. In fact, that’s how I think AMG could expand the roster with these Mojoverse characters! But if we’re going to do that we need to list out the must-add characters. Here’s five that we need to create the Mojoverse in Marvel: Crisis Protocol!

Mojo

Mojo is a villain in the comics who uses his powers to enslave people and have them participate in his “gladiator-like” television games for entertainment. He’s a member of the race of “Spinless Ones” who have advanced technology as well as some sort of “mystical” powers, too. He gains power the more popular his “shows” are and he’s really an evil dictator.

That said he’s really designed as a dig at network executives. While he’s certainly an absurd parody in the comics he’s got some serious mojo. Once he’s got you in his (metaphorical) grip it’s really hard to get out.

Longshot

Longshot is quite literally the star of the Mojoverse. His powers are super weird as he’s got “luck” powers kind of like Domino, but different. He’s also got all the typical super solider powers like hand-to-hand combat and weapons training. He’s kind of like a really juiced-up stuntman. Honestly, he’s what an action movie character would be if he was “real” and able to do all things in the movies. Anyhow, it would be really weird to introduce Mojo and to NOT have Longshot! Plus he’s got a weird paradoxical creation thing with another character on this list…

Spiral

Spiral is another Mojoverse must-have. She’s essentially Mojo’s right-hand. Spiral is his second-in-command and also his #1 henchmen. That said, she’s got a lot more character development in the long run and eventually allies with and even joins the X-Force/X-Men.

If it’s not obvious she’s got multiple sets of arms which uh…come in handy? Spiral also has enhanced strength, agility, reflexes, stamina, and durability — she’s a super-hero, folks. Additionally, she can cast spells and is also good with technology. That makes sense when you think about the tech and powers that Mojo also has.

Really, I’d just like to have Spiral added to the game because I think a multi-armed character like her would be a wild looking miniature!

Shatterstar

Hey, remember how I mentioned above that Longshot has a weird paradoxical creation thing with another character? Well…it’s Shatterstar. Strangely enough, he doesn’t have the exact same powers as Longshot. He’s got all the typical combat training you’d expect and he’s got enhanced physical traits, too. Oh and advanced healing. Shatterstar can also create teleportation portals with his swords and has some weird bioelectric powers, too.

Shatterstar is also tied directly into the Mojoverse and the X-Force. Considering we already have the X-Force in the game, I’m a little surprised we don’t have Shatterstar yet. Maybe AMG is saving him for the Mojoverse (one day).

Dazzler

“Wait, what?! Why is Dazzler here,” you ask? That’s a good question and it’s because of her relationship with both Longshot and Shatterstar. That whole paradox thing is kicking in. You see, it was heavily implied and later confirmed that Longshot is the biological father of Shatterstar, but Shatterstar was kind of the template for the creation of Longshot (genetically speaking). Well, you wanna know who Shatterstar’s mother is? Yep. It’s Dazzler.

I’ve mentioned Dazzler in previous lists and have wondered why she didn’t make the cut to the X-Men roster (yet). Maybe we can get her in some type of Mojoverse set instead.

Well that’s it for my list of characters we need to make the Mojoverse happen. I do hope that one day AMG makes this a thing. Ideally, they could even make a new mission pack created from the whacky adventures in the Mojoverse, too. I could easily see that pack coming with Mojo and then a character pack with the other four characters from this list included. Seems like a smash hit to me!
