In honor of Season 3 kicking off today for Marvel Rivals, it’s time to talk about the heroes we want to see added in the future.

Today, Marvel Rivals Season 3 is kicking off with the arrival of Phoenix. I just got my hands on the new Phoenix character pack for Marvel: Crisis Protocol and that got me thinking. I’ve done a list about the characters I want to see make the jump from Marvel Rivals to Marvel: Crisis Protocol. And I’ve done a list in the reverse. But the truth is that there’s way more characters in MCP than in Rivals (currently). Let’s talk about the characters in MCP that I want to make the jump to Rivals.

A quick note: There’s been “leaks” for the supposed heroes that are rumored to be coming to Marvel Rivals. If you know, you know. Now, I’m not in the know for that type of stuff. That said, I’m going to try to avoid those characters on the list (sorry Daredevil, Deadpool, and a BUNCH of X-Men). I’m also going to avoid characters I already wrote about previously. So let’s get into who else I’d like to see.

Ghost Rider

There’s at least one Ghost Rider in MCP and at least four in the comics that would fit the bill. Heck, there’s even the 2099 version which (if you know the lore of Marvel Rivals) then you know that could work, too. Anyhow, the Ghost Rider in MCP is Johnny Blaze. I think he’d be an awesome hero to add to Rivals. I would love to see him on foot, with the flaming skull, and chains about him. “But he’s the Ghost RIDER, where’s his bike?” I could totally see the Bike being an ability you could summon in and run through enemies with. Regardless, let’s get some Ghost Rider action in Rivals, eh?!

Bishop

Oh I’m sorry is my 90’s X-Men fanboy showing, mullet and all? We need Bishop in Rivals! His mutant power would fit perfectly in the game as the more damage he takes, the more he can dish out. While it would be tempting to make him a duelist character, I could easily see him being a Vanguard — just watch out for overloading. Regardless of the mechanics the game I’d just love to have the time-hopping Mutant added to Rivals.

Omega Red

I am unapologetically a Vanguard in Rivals. You know what I’d love to see? Some “bad guy” tanks added to the game. Omega Red fits that bill. He’s got one of my favorite miniatures in Marvel: Crisis Protocols and he’d be a great addition to Rivals. Again, mechanically, I think he’d be able to do AoE damage to nearby enemies combined with a sort of lifesteal effect. Oh and those tentacles aren’t just for whipping — he should be able to grab folks, too! I’ll let the game designers figure that out though. I think their art team could do an awesome job on the character model though.

Drax The Destroyer

Okay, in reality, any of the Characters from The Galaxy’s Deadliest Character Pack could work. I’m just going with Drax the Destroyer because I mentioned Thanos in my previous list. Anyhow, it would kind of depend on which version of Drax was added to Rivals — either the comic book version or the MCU version. The MCU version has a much lower power level than the comic book version but I that’s probably fine for game balance. Either way, we’ve already got several Guardians of the Galaxy so why not Drax? He could easily be a Vanguard or Duelist. It just depends on what direction the devs would want to go with him. They just can’t make him too Wolverine-like as Logan is already in the game. Although it would be hilarious if he was really good at grabbing flyers. Because, well…you know.

The Black Order

I mean, take your pick. The Black Order exists in both Marvel: Crisis Protocol and the MCU. Why haven’t these characters made the jump to Marvel Rivals?! What, does game development take a long time or something?! (That was sarcasm because, yes, Game Dev takes a long time.) But seriously, the Black Order has characters that would fit all the different roles in the game. Plus, they are baddies. Rivals needs more baddies. It would be kind of awesome to be able to run a full Black Order team in the 6v6 hero shooter. Just sayin’.

Okay, that’s way more than five characters that exist in MCP that need to join Rivals — who else would you want to see?
