A new sourcebook for Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay invites you to join the ranks of the greatest sailors in all of Ulthuan: the Sea Wardens of Cothique.

You might expect to see rules for sailing ships in a book called the Sea Wardens of Cothique. But Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay‘s newest sourcebook is about so much more than just High Elf sailors who patrol the coasts of Ulthuan on the hunt for Corsairs, Vampire Coast Pirates, and worse.

You’ll also find new creatures, new magics and artefacts, and expanded lore within. But perhaps most unexpectedly, you’ll find the rules for running intrigues, spy missions, and assassinations. All this and more awaits in the newest book up for pre-order for WFRP.

Sea Wardens of Cothique – Pre-Order Today

So, who are the Sea Wardens of Cothique, and why do they get their own book? Cothique is a coastal realm and is one of the ten kingdoms of Ulthuan. It’s where the waters are cold, the winds are colder, and the rocks are sharp enough to break your hopes and dreams as well as your bones when you go plummeting to the depths below. No wonder its inhabitants spend a lot of time sailing, wandering away from their homeland.

But, it’s not just the choppy seas and turbulent waters of Cothique that await you in the sourcebook. You’ll find rules for intrigue and assassination. For spying and sabotage – because this isn’t just about protecting Ulthuan from threats by the sea. It also features the infiltrators of Norsca and the elusive, deadly agents of Naggoroth. Only a fool would attempt to invade Ulthuan with a full frontal assault. Always there are threats slithering in the shadows.

Fortunately, there are the Sea Wardens of Cothique. Like all High Elves, they are the best at what they do, and in this case it’s sailing the sea in alabaster war-catamarans loaded down with Elven ballistae so they can fight sea monsters and also Dark Elf Corsairs. And when that isn’t working out, they also sniff out the schemes of Chaos’ heresies wherever they threaten to take root:

“The lands of Cothique have a wildness to them. In comparison to many other kingdoms of Ulthuan, they are windswept and untamed. In ages past these lands were threatened by Norse raiders and Dark Elf corsairs, but the creation of the Shifting Isles prevents hostile fleets from navigating to Cothique’s shores. Freed from obvious dangers, the nobles of Cothique indulge in intrigues and temptations, allowing hidden threats to inveigle their way into the neglected corners of their orderly realm. Agents of Chaos and the Dread King of Naggaroth stir up trouble and pave the way for a future conquest of the Kingdom.”

The official release is expected in Q4 of this year. But the book is up for pre-order now. Here’s a taste of what you can expect to find within:
