The Forgotten Realms are doomed once again as Neverwinter Nights 2: Enhanced Edition launches on Steam with all expansions.
Neverwinter Nights 2: Enhanced Edition appeared out of nowhere earlier this year. It’s not a total surprise – after all, the Enhanced Editions of the original Neverwinter Nights and Baldur’s Gate 1 & 2 have done quite well for themselves. But it was a leap from “hey, this is happening” to “and it’s happening in July” when pre-orders for the game went live only a month or so ago. And now the day is at hand, and all Faerun is imperiled once again, like in the good old days.
Neverwinter Nights 2: Enhanced Edition – Just What Makes It Enhanced Anyway
You might well be wondering, what makes this an “enhanced” edition anyway? For starters, full controller support. Timely, because the game is available on Steam and consoles. But additionally, the gameplay is smoother owing to improvements to camera controls, texture enhancements, and “polished mechanics.” That last one is a little vague, and it’s been literal years since I last played Neverwinter Nights 2, so I couldn’t tell you what that means exactly.
But up until today, the game has been unavailable on Steam. And now it’s back and better than ever. If you loved the original, you’ll love this – because it’s everything the original campaign had to offer preserved at its core. Well, more than its core, actually.
Because it’s not just the core game. It’s all the expansions too. That’s well over 100 hours of gaming as you dig through the original Neverwinter Nights 2, and follow it up with Mask of the Betrayer, Storm of Zehir, andd finally Mysteries of Westgate. And that’s assuming you don’t go make your own campaigns – because the Enhanced Edition features the DMs toolkit as well.
“Return to the city of Neverwinter in Dungeons & Dragons Neverwinter Nights 2: Enhanced Edition.
A dark force sweeps over Faerûn, ravaging everything in its path as though searching for something – something that you now find in your possession. As the Shard-Bearer, only you can stop the King of Shadows and his army from desecrating the land you call home. Will you save Faerûn, or fall victim to the temptation of absolute power?
When your actions dictate the fate of the Realms, there are no small choices.”

You can snag the game on Steam now, either on its own or as part of the Enhanced Bundle. The bundle includes the original Neverwinter Nights: Enhanced Edition. If you really want to relive the glory days of 3.5-era gaming, this is the way to do it, folks.
And if you’ve never played these games before – this could be a good way to scratch that post-Baldur’s Gate 3 itch. As long as you don’t mind older D&D.
It’s always Neverwinter Nights, never Neverwinter Late Afternoons.
