The Grey Knights and Black Templars both have new units coming with their codexes. And we’ve got all of them in the studio for a closer look.

This weekend Games Workshop is bringing in the Grey Knights and the Black Templar to pre-order. They are each getting a new codex supplement as well as a new unit — or two in the Black Templar’s case. We’ve got them in the studio and have them built. So let’s get in there and take a closer look at the new kits coming to the tabletop!

Grey Knights – Nemesis Dreadknight Update

Coming first in the new Sanctic Conclave is the new Grand Master in a Nemesis Dreadknight. This kit has a new update with additional weapon options. Now, our own Goatboy built this one and I don’t know for sure, but I think he may have over done it with the weapons on this kit…

I guess the point here is that you can built it with the new weapons like the Nemesis Mace/Flail as well as the Sublimator. But you can also slap on some of the older weapons like the Psycannon, too. I like the new frag launchers as well. Overall, it’s the same Dreadknight kit from before but the new upgrade sprue has all the new options. So go nuts with this one.

Black Templar – New Character Options

First up for the Black Templar we have the new Crusade Ancient. This take the classic look of the Black Templar (which includes a lot of robes and chains) and remixes it with the style of a Chapter Ancient to create the Black Templar Crusade Ancient. Goatboy opted for the shield/banner options as opposed to the Ork skull. Personally, I would have gone with the Ork Skull as a veteran of the Armageddon Black Templar era.

Regardless, this is a cool banner bearer for your Black Templar out there. If you’re really into free-hand painting or if you’re a fan of decals, then this miniature has some great surfaces to work with.

The Execrator is up next and is basically the Black Templar’s take on a Chaplain. You’ve got a couple of different heads you can use here s well as weapon load outs. Personally, I like the helmet on this miniature because it’s an intimidating looking skull.

Overall though I think this is a pretty neat kit and I’m glad GW made the most Black Templar Chaplain ever. Now, can we get one with a Jump Pack?

The two Black Templar characters are going up for pre-order individually while the Grey Knights Sanctic Conclave is the only place to get your hands on the new Grand Master on a Nemesis Dreadknight (for now).
